Soon you'll be able to buy the Nicholas Cage / Johnny Blaze action figure at a Wal-mart near you.
Wasn't there Ghost Rider merchandising in the 70s? I could swear that I had a G.R. Lunchbox at one time. Though he was never the type to be hyped in every home:) If there was something that the media wanted to blame violent kids on, a flaming demon skull on a biker fit the bill:)
I've found that the jackasses who quickly come and go tend to be the young ones. They get bored and move on, or wise up and actually get along for a bit, and then still move on. Most likely because they're young and always looking for new experiences.
The persistent jackasses that everyone accuses of being a kid though, the ones I've known have turned out to be in their 20s or early thirties more often than not. Some are venting from their over conservative jobs, some are just dicks, but generally the novelty of being an ass seems to wear off faster for the younger set.
Wow, 80 to 82 must have been very traumatic for you. I can't remember my sperm years at all. What did you do to amuse yourself? Learn to swim backwards?:)
I'm sure this will get marked as a troll, but honestly, how is the distribution of a Windows 2003 install key newsworthy? They've been leaked in every pre-release and retail version from '95 on.
With XP, you got 'net based authorization, which people got around by removing a file from the OS. It's going to happen. People pirate software.
As far as I can see this is about as much news as the "Buy an Xbox and make MS lose money!" stories.
Just calling it as I see it. Let the flames commence.
And for those of us who grabbed it there last week, but haven't had bit torrent running in a couple of days grab the.torrent file again and point the file to your saved ISOs if you've still got them. You won't need to redownload anything but the.torrent file and you'll become an upload point for a while to help decrease the load on the ftp sites.
When we hear of the horrible things the diamond industry has done to quash human rights, price fix, etc. it's a great reason not to buy a diamond engagement ring.
But how much will that going to matter when it comes down to clock cycles?
Someone needs to start coming up with rational explanations for our girlfriends now so we're not caught unprepared.
How is parent off-topic? Hypernovas lead to gamma rays, which leads to George Hamilton, who is obviously not known in all generations of Slashdot readers for his glowing butterball complexion.
All good points. If I could get an affordable Apple clone with OS X on it, I'd bite. The money they could make off licensing the clones and software should be more than enough to recoup the loss from not selling as many overpriced Macs.

A valid point. In the last few days there's been an upsurge of people in the press claiming that games like Battlefield 1942, America's Army, Ghost Recon, etc. are numbing us to murder and turning people into sociopaths.
Even though for most players it's really about using your skills at memorizing a playfields strong and weak points and out-thinking the enemy, rather than "kill, kill, kill", the more legitimacy that is given to gaming as a social and learning tool, the more ammunition is given to people that say "games with real or implied violence are destroying society!"
So oddly enough, by taking computer gaming and showing that it's not just mindless fun we give the "saviors of society" more fuel to add to the fire.
Hell, it wouldn't even have had to be down before. All you have to do is link it in a story on here and it really *would* be down in 15 to 20 minutes. No script-kiddies required.
Hehe, there was a news story about that last fall. A woman's credit card was stolen, and used for online gambling. By the time she'd reported it stolen the perp had won close to $500, without time to cash it out at an ATM. She got to keep the money:)
This isn't done to stop overclocking enthusiasts from cranking up their system at home. It's done to prevent fraud at the point of sale. If you're a small retailer who can sell a 2 GHz processor for 200 dollars, and you overclock it and sell your machines as 3 GHz, you're going to make a tidy profit seeing the difference in prices between that hardware. The average user will not know enough about their BIOS to check FSB, clock, and voltage settings to see if they're really getting what they pay for. They'll just know that they got an Intel that started acting flaky and eventually died because it wasn't cooled properly.
It sucks for overclockers that Intel does this, but they do have sound reasoning behind it.
I thought 867-5309 was the grid coordinates for Edmonton?!:) MDK2 referred to it in the opening cinematic. Lots of great hidden references in that game.
If there were a trauma surgeon in the audience, then I would forgive the momentary inconvenience as minutes, even seconds, can count when they are needed in emergencies.
Of course if anyone else in the audience is taking calls, they'd better hope there's a doctor handy too.

Mod this up. He's right.
If you look at the page the article is from you can even see the link "More Weekly World News Stories".
Not only is it a bogus story, it's a month old bogus story. Yeesh.

Hmm. I can't tell if this is humour or ignorance :)

Does this mean the RIAA names Microsoft as an accomplice now?
Damnit. Just when I'd figured out how to slip into the Wal-Mart DVD section with a Microwave oven and a portable generator stuffed in my windbreaker.

+5 Informative I say! And damn the sunscreen!
Funny how that works when you're thousands of miles away from a courtroom though. (applies to any military)

Did Acacia actually have anything of substance? Or is it just one of those "a method to over the net" patents that mention an idea but not much else.
Unless these companies are using tech developed at Acacia what right does Acacia have to their income?

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to be a game designer, but it helps :)
