"Oni was produced by the half of the company that was purchased by Take Two. Microsoft had absolutely nothing to do with it."
Microsoft had nothing to do with it with the exception of taking the large pool of talent that was known as Bungie and leaving a half finished game to be finished by a third party.
Let's face it.. talent has a big part to do with a games success... and Bungie had a LOT of it!
Let's also face another fact. Timelines for games won't be at Bungie's discretion any more. They will be on MS time.. and Halo, as good a game as it is, was still rushed and it shows. To me that's a little tarnish on Bungie's name as a direct result of their acquisition by MS.
This could actually be a good experiment for the university... Hiring well known names to teach classes and drive up admissions for that school...
It would be like (insert famous person) teaching a (insert a university school) class.
Next thing you know their entire school of (x) is swimming in applications... and $$$ (..and you thought they wouldn't raise their tuition... shame on you...at least they have a ready made excuse to give you this time.)
Heh. Guess who only saw the film, never read the books...
Heh.. You can't say for certain whether or not Gandalf "died" in his fight for the Balrog.. it's never really explained how he came back... at least not in my recollection.. it's been a long time since I read the books.
One Beowulf cluster of DMCA circumvention devices to rule them all, one Beowulf cluster of DMCA circumvention devices to find them, one one Beowulf cluster of DMCA circumvention devices to bring them all, and a first post to bind them!
If Lucas spent even a fraction of his effect budget on writers and decent actors then maybe I'd be happy. Flame me if you wish, but my feeling is that even though (as usual) this is a pretty movie to watch, it does not have any soul.
The writing is extremely poor... I don't care if it was geared towards 12 year olds, a kid can still tell good writing from bad.
The acting for the most part was poor. The only believeable characters were Owen and Peru..which seems kind of accurate in a way... Mix their gentle characters with the Annakin's insipid whining and you get Luke.
Even Yoda (to me) seems to have lost a slight edge on what he used to be.
This is only my opinion, but I would have rather donated my money to a fund for decent writers than have wasted my money and time on this film...
again only an opinion from a disgruntled fan... give it time to sink in a little and I may like it a little better.
nut it appears to me that maybe the lawyers on both sides should be reading/. for unique insights into the days testimony...
what better legal assistants could lawyers ask for in a tech case than an enourmous group of grassroots people actually involved *in* the tech industry. I get more rational info (both sides) from this site than from the all the tech news out there.
Companies and government agencies have found that people with sufficient I.Q. are a threat to security. People with significant intelligence can often circumvent security measures installed by large agencies and are therefore circumvention devices and considered illegal through the DMCA.
Preliminary testing will be started in the second half of this year with disposal of the offending intellects beginning early next year.
One might also say that the art of carriage building has been forgotten by the makers of automobiles... or the art of the sword has been forgotten by weapon "smiths" of the today...
An art is only as pertinent as the times in which they exist. The art itself has not been forgotten, but is merely not practiced due to its unnecessary nature.
It is my guess that hydrogen was not the "food" for such bacteria, but rather more likely the waste of the same bacteria.
I do recall that in the absense of sunlight algae can change it's metabolism to feed on sulfer and produce hydrogen. Bacteria living deep within the earth may be using a similar process of conversion.
I like to think of flash like black paint or salt...
A little bit goes a looooong way.
Flash is fine for grpahical accents and small navigational elements that would otherwise require tons of scriptiong, but as for building and entire site on flash it's pretty much overkill.
Personally, I think flash would make a wonderful interface for embedded objects like PDA's and cellphones.
Again. I think you're missing my point. A computer or any of it's components that don't need consistent direct interaction should not even need to be seen. Under your logic a car should have it's engine exposed. I am simply stating that the computer system is not something that should be readily seen by an onlooker. Same rule applies to stereo and speakers. They should be unobtrusive and out of the way. Hence why we have stereo cabinets and so forth. My point was not to embrace the whole teddy bear enclosure as a whole, unless you have a 13 year old daughter, but rather to remove the unnecessary viewing of technology in more sophisticated ways.
I'm glad you know so much about the difference between switches and hubs. My knowledge was limited to the difference in bandwidth and packet collision. I am willing to admit I didn't have the knowledge of wireless transmission, thankfully, thats not my chosen area of expertise. When you happen to make a mistake in my particular area of expertise, I'll be sure to correct you in the same courteous manner you have chosen to display.
You may know the difference between what's buzzword and what's "real" but you have some significant ground to make up in social graces.

How silly of all those scientists to have come up with reproducible chemical equations showing how harmful Freon is...
..and all along it was Dupont marketing protecting their monopoly... I feel so foolish. Thank you for letting me see the light.
Didn't they spend $500 million on just advertising for the X-Box?
So maybe they're just planning a windows advertising campaign in China...
although I don't know how they'd compete with an OS by a manufacturer with "Red" in it's name..
Don't ask questions you don't really want to know the answers to! ::)
It's obvious that our corporate culture has even infected slashdot...
The scary part is: "Stem sells" is probably just as valid.

True...
but then the phrase "dead rising from the grave" could be easily open to such an interpretation given the amount of translation that has gone into it.
Not only words must be translated but also cultural meanings.
If such a thing were witnessed by someone of those times it would indeed seem to fit how they would describe it...
I'm not saying your wrong.. I'm just saying yours is but one interpretation of many interpretations of a meaning.
For the theoligically inclined:
Could this be classified as the dead rising from the grave...?
For the atheologically inclined:
The theologically inclined will be thinking this...
ok how about..

Since when has an MS product doing badly ever stopped it from dominating the market for which it was aiming.
Are you kidding... I'd love it if Intel were able to reduce the size of their chips!
Note: That was sarcasm for the humor impaired.
For one you could have buried a false story in the midst of real ones and have a contest to have readers decide which one is the joke...
You could give away someone's favorite Linux distro on CD or something... ANYTHING BUT THIS!
It seems that this could set quite a precedent for a lot of kiddies to abuse any EULA for almost anything.
What a great time to be under 18... no restrictions on your software usage, it would be unenforceable!
MS figured out that it can gather more than just boring ol' text information... It can gather images or sounds, or almost anything.
How about DNA security, where you sign your contract in blood!!!???
Why does that sound familiar?
Better relax a little there...
My point was that the RIP implies ownership of given material and therefore makes Disney's statements more baseless.
If it was download mix burn they might actually have a point...

Hotrods have absolutely no class whatsoever... so yes, I would be embarrassed to be seen driving one thanks for showing the world that you would not.
