Software choice, free computers, donation to Peru, etc.. now we can forget all the bad things M$ has ever done, they sure have turned good, or have they?
In the 80's I remember stories where Microsoft sent a teenager into a computer store complaining that he has lost his mouse driver. A goodwilled sales clerk of course took a copy of the drivers from one of their DOS packages. Few hours later M$ lawyer was at the door..
Maybe the younger generation will see only the good deeds Microsoft has done. I anyway won't ever trust M$..
"Microsoft and other software companies are ramping up a lobbying effort that aims to convince governments to think again about adopting open-source software"
"Because our Heavenly Father chose Jesus Christ to be our Savior, Satan became angry and rebelled. Satan and his followers fought against Jesus and his followers."
Oh no, I'm not against M$, the analogy is just too easy to see:)
Net radio station have to move their servers to countries where RIAA has no influence.
After few years all radio listeners have switched to the Internet radios. Since by then USA has no working net radios the 3rd world countries gain all profit.

Difference between Go and Chess is that Chess match can be won with a good memory (like IBM's computer did). Now you can easily calculate that 19x19 Go board can have 3^361 different combination of layouts. Can you imagine a computer that could calculate all those variations!!!
Once as a young boy I invested most of my money in (A)D&D materials. It seems that I made a wise choice since someone is now willing to pay 150$ from the books I bought with 5$.
...I just wish it would be as easy to give up these as it is to sell my stocks.
Atleast there is competition between those three, at PC OS market there is/was no competition at all againts M$.
All of those three are now starting to support Symbian OS and Java. Would the situation be the same if there were 20 companies with each having 5% share of the market?
To me as a customer it's alot easier when there are only few models to choose from and even those have the same OS.
As a programmer it's very nice to see my Java code working in all of those phones.
How do you define optimal market? Thousand companies, hundred companies, ten companies or just a one company?
If you put a note at the local supermarket's bulletin board telling all kinds of personal information about you, do you think that nobody remembers those things when you remove the note?
How stupid can people be. Internet is more powerful media than television, half a billion people can see your postings if they want to.
Internet is like a mean friend with a photographic memory.
My cellphone does the same thing, it sends signals through air. Although its battery lasts only couple of days.. I wonder if they have any of those Pioneer 10 batteries left at NASA second hand store?
Protect the open source

I hope you all who are in a management position realize that.NET is ONLY good choice when it's open source. We have NO reason to believe that M$ is doing this out of goodness of their heart.
Have you ever played Go, the ultimate strategy game? If you have you can probably see the similarities.
Once again I blame M$ for these new keyboard designs. I was totally happy (and still am) with plain keyboard design until around '95 first versions with windows(tm) keys came in to stores. Damn I hate those windows(tm) buttons, they make SPACE smaller and move ALT to wrong place. Nowadays it's almost impossible to find keyboards without windows(tm) keys and my guess is that in five years all you can get is multimedia-natural-wireless-silent-etc keyboards.
Has Wolfram invented something besides giving a new name to the Game of Life and Fractal mathematics?
Go to a library and browse through books about Fractals made in the 70's and you can easily spot that things "invented" by Wolfram had been discovered ages ago but there were no computers to test them.
But then again, most of the great scientist have never invented anything by themselves, they just have gathered up other scientists theories into a single theory.
As M$ has already announced, Linux is a communist operating system. Now Korea is showing a prime example how communism takes over the free markets. Next thing you know everybody is using Linux and you just have to watch how the communist-devil eats all your friends!
Medal of Honor is actually just like any other Q3 mod. Only difference is that it's commercial and you have to pay for the full version. Ok, there are no WWII mods yet for quake, but by copying the MoH maps to UrbanTerror or TrueCombat you would get just the same game.
Most of the ex-communist countries have nowadays bragged about their achievements. It's just a show off. Being "the most networked goverment" does not nullify the other areas where their country is still in mid 20th century. Have any of you guys visited Slovakia recently? I have, and I can say there are million things that should be made better before moving to the modern problems like the Internet.
It's pretty sad to see a goverment laying tax money to an Internet project when 70% of the country's population have never even used the Internet.

How do you make cold pizza and a coke taste best?
This is the guy who changed my life and many others. I wonder if I ever had become a nerd if I hadn't stumbled across D&D manual in a library..
I can see RIAA's strategy now clearly.

This just a way to support poor countries!

Finally after 26 years of profound research someone has found useful utilization for the Atari 2600!!!
I hope they scan them all and put up a web-library.

Free Software = Communism (Defined by M$)
Communism = Crime (defined by senator McGarthy)
Crime = Piracy (defined by BSA)
Therefore Free Software = Piracy
