Back in the 1980's/early 1990's I knew several people who hacked CBI (Credit Bureau Inc) We used to hack the X accounts because accounts that started with an X were admin accounts.
Back then when you got one, you could see everything! Bank account numbers, credit card numbers, etc, etc. You could even change the information reported on a persons account.
So, once we had them we would sell "Corrections" to peoples reports AND some would even use it to card stuff. (Buy stuff on someone eases credit card)
Those breaches were never reported, but admin control of the system is by far the worst breach you can imagine.
And people wonder why I dont do credit, credit cards, or loans. lol
I would be happy if they replied to the web forms. I can not count the number of times I have filled out a form asking a question and never get a reply.
Sometimes when I have a choice of companies to buy a product from, Ill send an email or fill out the web form asking the same question to multiple companies. The one that replies is the one I buy from. I wonder how many customers companies are loosing because of there non-responsiveness.
WTF, I was born on the wrong side of the tracks and raised by a single mother who did not have "proper connections" and worked retail jobs her whole life.
Im well into the 6 figures because I learned, used my knowledge, and bring value to the companies I work for.
Personally, I think it is the racist democrats who constantly push the made up narrative about how the poor black kids can not get ahead in life because they were born on the wrong side of the tracks, are the wrong color, and have parents without proper connections.
Don't think it is a made up narrative? What about those poor chinese kids, or indian kids, or arabic kids? Well they appear to be doing just fine.
I would tend to agree. Transistor size and density is reaching the point where the quantum tunneling effect kicks in and breaks transistors. In a nutshell, Moore's law is about over as we will not be able to continue to put more transistors in smaller packages.
Some new form of computing may be invented that lets it continue but I don't think we will get anywhere near the abilities of a human brain.
I have said many times that AI is not as advanced as many people think. AI will not take your job any time soon, it is not a few years away, and human level AI may not be here for centuries.
So, you will not be put out of work by AI any time soon, and with that in mind UBI is not coming anytime soon.
Having worked in IT for over 30 years and having worked for Fortune 100 companies, I have never see it work this way.
I have seen C-Level executives come in with a great new idea about how they were going to save the company millions by changing everybody's desktop to BYOD. Thus eliminating the need for the company to buy, maintain, and repair desktop systems. That lasted all of 30 days before security and legal come down on him.
In today's corporate IT environment we have to meet regulations. They may be something as simple as SOX or as complex as GxP. In those regulatory environments having an open network where everyone can bring in any piece of equipment and plug it is becomes a major problem. As such there are policies in place, there is training, there are physical restrictions, and there are software enforced restrictions.
I am currently working for a rather large Aerospace company that was recently acquired by another company. The new management seem to have problems understanding that having everyone on one network is an issue. The new company has locations in China, Taiwan, and Korea. The company they bought handles government contracts from everyday items to items that are classified. It is a violation of federal law to have foreign nationals on our network because of the government contracts we have.
So, from a management point of view I am sure that having everyone able to bring in whatever they want and connect it sounds great. however in the real world IT and IT Security are the ones that have to, not only manage them, but they also work to mitigate the legal risk. Some of the more important jobs in IT, is to protect the company's digital assets. Including understanding the laws, regulations, requirements, and licensing of the products the company uses.
Last time I was told "IT is just a cost center" I looked at the VP and asked where he heard that. When he responded with "Accounting" I pointed out that accounting was a cost center as well, heck even your management position is a cost center. I don't understand what IT being a cost center has to do with anything as everyone not in sales is a cost center.
Bacon is a close third it was recently published that bacon contains more monounsaturated fat than olive oil. Monounsaturated fat is considered "Heart Healthy."
Im beginning to think that 2 fried eggs, 2 strips of bacon, toast with real butter, and a cup of coffee is a healthy breakfast. lol
The last time I dealt with TWC they handed me a 1 page contract that had, printed in small print just above the signature line, "Included in this contract is everything published at " and an http address. I refused to sign before looking at the contents of the web locations. It had over 30 different web pages published at that location and there were 1000's of pages of restrictions, addendums, and additions to the contract.
This is just an example of non-technical management trying to make a technical decision. It always ends up costing the company or in this case the taxpayer far more money and provides far less service than promised.
No need to ban. Just treat guns like cars. You need a license to own/use one and you have to have liability insurance.
I can buy and own a car without a license or insurance provided I only drive it on my property and not on state roads. I can buy a handgun without a license or insurance provided I don't carry it in public.
I need a license to drive a car on state roads. I need a license to carry a gun in public.
First, I am not sure the laws of thermodynamics would apply. They say that "In a closed system" and there is lots of evidence that the universe is not a close system.
Though that is another argument as with our current technology we can convert heat to mechanical energy with a 90%+ efficiency. There is no need to radiate heat energy when it is trivial to convert it to a usable energy.
I had the 1000 with a 4k expansion pack and a cassette tape interface. It was fun learning basic on the thing and writing programs to play games. Those were the days.
I once found a root cron job that ran a script that was about 100 lines long. That script called another script that was close to 1000 lines long. The admin hid a call in that script to call a third script. That third script would check the time and the accounts, if it was between 00:00 and 02:00 GMT and his account was not in the system it would add the account with root privileges. When 02:00 came around it would delete the account from the system.
So basicly between 00:00 and 02:00 GMT he could access the system with admin privileges and do whatever he wanted. I only noticed it because I saw a login at 00:30 by an account that did not exist. I almost missed it because it was called deamon and when scanning the logs you can dismiss it as the daemon account. It took me days to find where the add and delete user account commands were hidden.

They were saying that back when it was $5 a bit coin. Everyone claimed it was over priced and would fall back to $0.50 a coin.
Lol, Everyone said it was a ponzi scheme when I bought it back at $1 a bit coin.
That's a 14.98% change over 24 hours. I have had stocks drop faster than that!
Personally, I don't think the price of BTC is sustainable because it has risen too fast, but I have been wrong before.
So basically fuck the customers we'll do what's CHEAPEST for us.
Fixed it for you. lol
Wish I had mod points, this is the kind of company that has it figured out. Plus they are seeing growth from it.
I did the same thing at a company and we were seeing similar growth. It is amazing what real customer care will get you these days.

If you are young, cute, willing to be naked while you clean, and don't mind me fucking your brains out multiple times while you do said cleaning.
Then $100 an hour sounds very reasonable.

You sound like a boss I used to have.
He once told me "I can replace you at moments notice!" He was surprised when I said "Let's see if you can." and started packing up my desk.
The outcome was,
In 48 hours I had two job offers on the table.
In 6 months the position was still open and unfilled.
An Asshole boss will always be an asshole boss. It is best to simply find a new boss that is not an asshole.
So it is Basic Income that does not meet the Basic needs?
How long will that last before they are screaming for a raise?
Never heard of it, is it something like Microsoft Bob?
I had the 1000 with a 4k expansion pack and a cassette tape interface. It was fun learning basic on the thing and writing programs to play games. Those were the days.
So, AT&T is just like the Leviathan on supernatural.
That sounds easier than it really is.
