it doesn't sound like you need a computer repairman. if you can outsmart these watchful eyes than you probably don't even need a service like these. what about those who don't have any idea about how to go about creating knoppix disc, or have to send their computer to a repairman to install a second harddrive.
would this domain designation not help parents and "nanny software" to block large portions of pornography sites? i doubt every pornography site would switch to the.xxx suffix, and some may create sister sites on.xxx to link or coexist with their.com sites. however, it could usher a lot porn into a specific area where consumers of porn can find it easily, and at the same time parents can block off entirely.
with the exception of gimp which isn't very stable on either windows, or mac OSX open source graphics apps don't cut the mustard. the GUI's tend to not have a focus. the 3d apps lack the neccessary features that more mature commercial apps have.
what will happen to windows when people don't need it to play games. i know several people who hate windows, but use it strictly to game. is MS shooting themselves in the foot. is it worth it for them, damaging windows, to sell x-box?
"I've grown to loathe Adobe as a company, as I have seen them buy up products, then just milk them without putting in any major improvements (c.f. FrameMaker)."
What about after effects? when adobe bought after effects it was a simple motion graphics animation program, and it's now a major competitor in compositing.
while i mostly agree with this notion. i think there are 3d games that have mastered collision detection, and cinematic style well. soul caliber would be the first on my list. even though you have a good deal of control over the character there are almost on unflattering poses. this statement applies only to the dreamcast version which i found far more fluid than soul caliber 2.
i think it's amazing that competition is helping lower prices. video games have been really expensive for a long while. unfortunately i don't play sports titles.
if photoshop has to run each pic through a detection algorithim wouldn't that slow things down a bit. not that a slightly slower photoshop matters to most people, but i batch process thousands of frames for animations. maybe it wouldn't be a big slow down for one scan or import but it would for the amount that i process. and it doesn't really seem like this is going to stop anything.
the food is far more fresh than anything you would find in a grocery store. it goes right from teh warehouse to your door without the middle man. i guess it depends on the service. fresh direct in manhattan is actually one of the best websites i have used ever.
does anyone else think these sco guys are just releasing all these inflamatory statements just to bait the leaders of the oss movement. playing on their passions to force them to make comments that will eventually be used against them in court?
it happened in florida in the 2000 elections. thousands of minority voters were deemed unqualified to vote because a corrupted registration system declared them to be felons. this occured because they shared a name with a felon others were barred having been convicted in the year 2009. if we can't get the registration right what chance do we have for the actual votes.
i am not looking at this link in this post. the reason is that i fear being smitten by some over-cautious government too much to risk it. i apologize to my free speech brethren but this is a ridiculous idea to promote or condone. first off free speech protects our right to say whatever we care to, but not when the government is being run by a regime that cares nothing for privact except its own.
in this day of propaganda news reporting anything touching this post will attract negative attention, especially slashdot! as sure as the constitution guarentees protection of speech, this post is going to attract the wrong kind of attention. don't forget we live in a capitolist society. there are powers other than the government that might see this, and still have power enough to bring bad press upon this blog (which i regard as one of the best). (not that i condone or promote the dixie chicks, but) look what happened to the dixie chicks, they got f*#%ed up. media sources had interests which opposed their opinions. without going into the details of this process their main objective is to scare people into watching or reading their broadcast by scaring them, and blaming it on someone else. i pray thius thing doesn't blow up in our faces. i love this site passionately. i would hate to see something happen to it. maybe i am being over-cautious (i often am)on this issue but i see trends going in this direction and any volatile statements could create terrible precedents.
it must be nice for these executives to have finally dislodged their heads from their asses.

that's the solution.

thank you for mirroring this. it made my day.

i know this guy is rich, but can he afford to keep throwing away money?
is this true even if they are referring to EA as an entity?

you know that hardware is going to be standard and suck. it's like giving everyone the same crappy car, and charging more for gas to pay for it.
then i doubt the entire town is going to be layed out the same in every episode.

where is linux on their enemies list? they don't need someone else coming up and stealing more market share.
the one they have now is pretty piss poor.

this situation is nothing like the scenario you described. no one got hurt here.
what happens if you are an asshole driver? the car prevents you from driving the way you feel most comfortable.
