Noticed these all need to be tethered to be useful? Anything which sells more huge-margin smartphones is just gonna be rammed down consumers throats, so expect tons of "buy this handset and get this hugely discounted smartwatch" type bundles any time now.

Making UI uniform across all devices is a risky strategy. If consumers, familiar with Windows 7 & XP, hate Windows 8, how are they going to be sold Microsoft's new phone on the strength "it's the same as our new PC desktop" ?
Nokia is in imminent danger of leaving the mobile phone industry in favour of becoming an outsourced excrement distributor. This could be their last chance of avoiding that and giving their customers what they really want, thereby surviving: Nokia Android handsets/tablets.
How fondly I remember them from the Ericsson R380 back in 2000. I guess it wasn't patented then because not only was it so freaking obvious, it had been done before with various other PDAs. Still, there's a reality distortion field to combat now, so let's see the epic battle betwixt that and prior art begin!
