eh close enough. It's ex post facto or after the fact. I'm not trying to be a grammer nazi, god knows I am in no way qualified. but since it looks like you wanted to be told if you had it wrong. More Information
People want to want the big boys not a bunch of maybes and never-will-be's Yeah because people never go to see a minor league or highschool game right... Oh yeah right your wrong.
Some people think there is some natural prgression that we should go from 2d to 3d, but the fact is we never realy had a 1d interface. (I don't think I'm willing to except that the command line is 1d) I think the next UI will be something completly new. If you have to do all this and people still aren't going for it chances are that it's a solution looking for a problem.
Look how popular the GUI became, did it really take much to get people to go from the command line to teh GUI?
keep underage kids from buying beer This goes beyond keeping kids from buying beer. In Fl and in Va our DL's have quasi holograms on them, that might help prevent underage liquor purchases but not by much. My first year in college the guys in the room next to mine were still pumping out fake ID's so students could get in to clubs and buy alcohol etc. So obviously the countermeasures are in some cases only as good as the person checking the ID's, unless it's easy to reproduce. Face it if a minor want to buy alcohol there are plenty of avenues to get it besides a fake ID. Have a friend buy it for you, or go to a place that doesn't acre. In Tallahassee we had allot of these and the students knew which ones to go to. From TFA the information would be readable only through a computerized scanner, which law enforcement officers could carry. This watermark is not intended to stop underage drinking because club owners and liquor stores won't have the scanners.
WANT to learn The only problem with your argument is that you think people here want to learn. While many do, a lot of the people here think they already know everything and want to "prove" how smart they are and how dumb everything else is.
yeah man never talk about the ESA Black-Op Soilders thats a sure way to get eliminated.... Awe Crap!.... Wait I didn't mean to say that outloude. Where is the edit option?.../panics... Curse y...
Mod-chips serve a purpose and should be legal Should be is the operative word here. The fact is they are not legal. Regardless of ethics, fair use etc. I'd like them to be legal as much as the next guy, but right now they are not and the fact that a legit business was selling them is just blatant stupidity. If your doing it on your own the chances of your house getting raided are practilly nil. But for a business to do this... On a side note I've been the to Pandora's Cube in Springfield a few times and bought a couple anime sound tracks from them. Nice store friendly people.
just add voltage! It's amazing how many things have been achived by doing just that. Didn't they use electricty do get the cells going when they cloned Dolly?
Is it fair to call closed source a niche market? I mean closed source software is big business, when I think niche I think small, not many players, limited use, etc
I think this might also be a problem of watching too much TV. IMHO.
I can't remeber the last time there were two shows on at teh same time that I wnated to watch. This all goes out the window when you introduce a roommate to the situation, but even these can be settled by a quick RoShamBo (Southpark stile if both persons are male).
What if you hadn't saved the file on it that you "meant" to?
Why make a solution to a specific problem part of normal flow of use. I mean your start of by "if", that means that they might not want to save anything to the disk, they just want the disk out of the drive, if they had something they wanted to save let the user deal with that and let the user make sure they clicked saved.
I've thought about this for a long time. With my heart condition at birth I myself would not be alive if it wasn't for modern medicine and surgery. I find my self wondering if it's fair for me to have a child with my genes...
I sometimes think that were ruining countless gerenerations of evolution and mucking it all up.
Can we just say that this will always be a complaint of X amount of people and move on? Does it really need to be said for every topic of government activity?
I did not ask for it, I don't like it and I don't want to pay for it. Many retired people in Fl don't like their tax dollars going to fund public schools, A person sitting in solitary confinement in prison probably wishes money didn't go to solitary confinement.
I think they and my government have better uses for my money. If you asked 1000 people what they would like to be done with their tax dollars how many different answers do you think you would get? The thing is we all have different priorities that we feel need attention and ones that don't.
IRC has never been private anyone and their mother can log what you say and twist it to what ever they want, hell they don't even need to twist it they could forge the whole damned thing. They new thing here is just trying to automate some of this logging and filtering and reducing man hours, which can reduce the amount of people they have to pay for it and allow that money to go somewhere else. But I'm sure you'll have a problem with where ever your tax money goes won't you?
The more I read/. The more I hope that the tin foil hat brigade is right in their fears. That way it wont be long until they are rounded up then I won't have to hear them yell "Big Brother" this and "1984" that.
check out this link wikipedia It will answer all your questions about In Soviet Russia, Overlords, and other questions you have about slashdot but were too affraid to ask.

If Charlie comes out of the factory at the end and the planet is ruled by apes I'm so asking for my money back.

so we're damned if we plan ahead, and damned if we don't.
Becuase it's real hard to go back to the very begining of a movie on a dvd right?

Isn't that like the pot calling the tea kettle black.
Your the one who thinks were tunning in to a police stae and is changing were your thinking of going to school.
when did this topic get limited to OS? I'm talking about open source vs closed source not just linux vs windows.

I stand corrected, thanks.
You know what that means, I just have to watch it again to refresh.
then then be sure you don't let your friend to close to the pool after he see's the miles aren't coming off.
What is the statistic we learned, something to the extent of "the average person can't go 10 city blocks without violating a traffic law"
