    Microsoft is consistant only because one company rules over every detail.

    Each distribution is self consistant. But each distribution offers strengths and weaknesses compared to the others.

    Don't compare Windows to Linux. Compare Windows to Red Hat, or compare Windows to Novell/SUSE

    The whole point of having different distributions is that one likes Gnome, One likes KDE, one likes Security, One likes to compile everything...

    You don't get that kind of choice with windows, You take what Bill gives you and you like it.

    I was talking about the music. There were words for the original startrek theme song. They didn't use them during credits, but at one time or another they were sung.

    (I know the words were not sung for the credits,
    but they did exist and I think Uhura sung them once in one of the episodes)

    Next Gen - Symphonic, no words, no meaning
    DS9 - Symphonic, no words, no meaning.
    Voy - Symphonic, no words, no meaning.
    Ent - Rock, Words, backstory based.

    The Enterprise theme song comes closer in concept than the others.

    Apple complains about lost sales of their other machines to people who heard about the mini and waited till it came out.

    What about people who heard about the mini and waited for it instead of buying a sub-$300 X86 PC?

    Joe Computerbuyer says "Those macintoshes are so expensive, and I need a computer, guess I'm stuck with a clunky pentium 1 machine from GoodWill. Wait what's this on Think Secret - a cool new mac that *I* can afford? cool I'm wait'n for that!"

    Shouldn't Apple be saying "Thanks ThinkSecret more sales for our mini" ?

    Personally, I think the theme is very good for Enterprise. The Vulcans had been holding back warp drive progress since they arrived on the scene. With the new warp 5 engines mankind can get a lot closer to "reach any star". The theme is all about the backstory.

    In the case you suggest, voter fills out a paper somehow and it is read by a machine, usually the machine reads it "silently" not giving any indication of how it understood the voter's will.

    Someone once said:

    It's not who votes that counts, It's who count the votes.

    So if I buld a printer that allows anyone's ink, but "remembers" that other inks were used, so I can charge an "ink path cleaning" charge when the printer is returned for serives, would be OK?

    Yes!

    1) Every time the car is smogged the mileage is noted, and taxes assessed (based on weight of vehicle and it's "smog level"

    2) At any time in between the user could voluntarily submit their current odometer reading and pay a part of the tax so it's not a huge bill at smog time.

    3) ALL OF THE CURRENT GAS TAXES MUST BE REMOVED

    I'd go for that, even if I mostly drove on my own property due to not paying the current gas taxes.

    Perhaps Tractors and other Farm Machine could be exempt.

    While I don't aprove of the GPS, how else would they be able to tell if you drove in state/ or out of state (for those near borders). Also should I be charged if I drive a truck around my farm and only go on public roads to get it filled at the gas station?

    I guess we will all have to have a "Gas" car that only drives back and forth to the gas station with gas cans and then fill our other cars from that..

    Why not just ask to raise the gas taxes, and decide to spend less when we all say NO.

    If these random number generators are affected by world events, shouldn't two of them be affected at the same moments? What If you had a bank of them (note: NOT a beowoulf cluster...) shouldn't they all exhibit some "behavour" for each world event?

    I wonder, As the police get ever better at getting the criminals, and as the criminal "supply" is exhausted, won't new things become crimes? Things that were never crimes before? Once we have all the jay-walkers in jail, will we start on those who cuss?

    Yup, when guiding my sister-in-law the question always comes up "Which finger?" I have yet to train her on "Normal finger" vs "Other finger" (Or "Strange finger", since I do not always remember right or left. I am a big mac user myself but she uses my wife's windows machine.

    Perhaps after eating 13 courses of tiny ammounts of food I might be "full"... nope.

    Sure it tastes good (subjective) but if I pay $100.00 I don't want to need to eat again till at least the next regular meal time.

    Sheeh I'll take McDonalds!
