    I remember when Pink Floyd came here (Philly, USA) in '92 (or '91, I forget when The Division Bell came out, I still have the shirt somewhere I think...), PHL had to redirect air traffic that night during the show because of the green lasers that they were using in the show. DAMN FANTASTIC SHOW, BTW, but the point is: yes, Green Lasers (especially) can be that visable and that vibrant.

    WCW aired on Ted Turner's network. CNN is a news station...

    I watched a LOT of WCW. Since VKM bought them, I haven't watched much wrestling. A couple pay-per-views at the local Hooters and a few RAWs and SDs, but not much. I preferd WCW. I don't care much for VKM's version. I never really did. That's I watched WCW.

    EZ-E is the man.

    It's not a bug.

    This was the solution to a hack, actually (IIRC). The Page Widening Trolls (TM) like to make a string of text thousands of characters long so there's a real nasty side-scroll. By adding in that space every X nuber of characters, it becaome imposible for the trolls to make the window side scroll.

    Browse /. at 0 or -1, you'll still see some of them.

    Although I am holding an oar next to you in the your boat, the point is that you CAN. WIth closed-source products, you don't even have that option.

    When you get above 25 Karma (I THINK; and I have NO idea what it is now with the new words instead of numbers), you can then post at +2, but in the submition screen, you can check a box to not use the extra point. I usually don't check it, but sometimes I do (when I'm just adding to fodder, and know I'm going to get modded down anyway).

    Adventure is among my top favorite games of all time.

    Hands down!

    OK, so the graphics weren't that good (even for that time), but EASILY one of the best games of all time. I have no idea how many hours I spent in front of my old 2600 (the second one, I killed the first one when I plugged the wrong Wall-Wart into it... just like my old Speak 'n' Spell...).
    I never could remember the name of the game, to be honest, but I still think of it all the time. The dragons, the mazes, the castles... Damn. I was only like 9 or 10 then.

    Good thing I got to this early enough to DL the mod. I just hope the *NIX version of Q3A will run it... :-\

    I feel very bad for you. I'm with what was called at one time Erols. They got swallowed by RCN a few years ago. I've been paying the same rate for almost 5 years now. I THINK (IIRC), when I signed with Erols, it was like $172US a month. Since RCN grabbed them, it went up to $178US a YEAR. That's $14.83 a month. Dirt cheap. This goes back to around '95 or '96 (I honestly forget when I first signed with them).

    Yup. You are right again. It is a luxury; one which I'm getting every cent out of. I have been for a bunch of years now. And to reitterate a previos agreement, yes, I wouldn't be doing this if I was paying hourly.

    If you have a 24/7 need (ie, running a server) you probably won't use dialup anyway.

    Although I 100% agree with you, I'm on 56gay and my line is up 24/7. I pay $178US a year. I can run whatever I want (yea, it's just a modem but, still...). I run SSH, my own mail, etc. And anytime anyone in the household sits down to a machine on the LAN, the Internet will be there. Anytime I need to check on my LAN or need a 100% external connection from work for testing or something, it's there. Granted I happen to have a pretty damn good ISP (I only get hung up on every 1.5 to 2 weeks (yes, seriously).

    The point is, what I pay a year is what (roughly) these folks over there would pay a month.

    You can't tell me that their is any linux distro that can match Windows ease of use. If their is, why arent the masses jumping on that bandwagon???

    NOW who is being naive?

    Have you not read the stories about M$'s strangle hold (or maybe a good Ric Flair style Figure-4?) on the OEM companies? Are you not aware that companines can not install ANY other OS in tandum with Win* on their machines? Remember the story about Dell putting FreeDOS on their machines just so they could beat the M$ policy?

    So why aren't the masses jumping on it (Linux)? Because they are (almost) not allowed to buy a machine that doesn't run Win*.

    Ya know, that is probably one of the worst moderations I've seen in a long time.

    The second parent post in the list (that matters) gets a redundant score. I HOPE someone gets to meta-moderate this one...

    I get mod points about every week-and-a-half to 2 weeks. I have been for 4 or 5 months now. I rarely even use them all (to be honest) becasue I use them the way they were intended: SPARINGLY. But this... this is just silly.

    Moderators, 3 things:

    I know I'll get modded to oblivion, that's fine (I've been capped for a few months now...).

    You folks really need to learn where your mose is clicking when (IF "redundant" wasn't meant.

    If reduntant WAS meant, I hope you get meta-moderated off the .

    When you buy XP, what do you get? You get something that will boot your machine (most of the time) and get you on the internet.

    Whan you buy a Linux Distro what do you get? Something that will boot your machine, get you on the internet, AND give you all the software you need to write your report, build web pages, run a server (several of them, http, irc, smb, etc.), etc, etc, etc.
    AND you only need to BUY IT ONCE. With XP, you have to buy it for every machine that you need it running on. With Linux you buy one copy and put it on as many machines as you want.

    It's not the IT folks that need the convincing (as you see I already am), it the Big Wigs that just don't or won't get it. THAT is the hard part to overcome. Trust me. I've been fighting this battle for almost 2 years now.

    Well, the person is probably using smarter / better browser than you are. I get no pop-ups with Konqueror or Mozzie. My guess would be that the submitter didn't even know there were pop-ups. Just as I didn't.
