yeah, I've actually read Winter's Heart. Still didn't do much in it though. He is massing for either the best series ending book(s) ever, or just sitting back and laughing at us.
And you have to ask yourselves, does anyone need more proof that Linux is as capable as any other operating platform out there?
No. I sure don't. In fact, we've been getting beaten over the head with this for a few years now.
Linux used by company X! It'll be taken seriously now! Wohooo...that was in like 2000.
Now, for whatever reason, geeks have this frigging complex that their operating system needs to have some sort of global warm fuzzy. This ain't all hollywood people. This isn't Sally Fields gushing about how we like her (we really like her!). Folks, use what you like, influence (if you must) who you can and just move on.
Maybe, just maybe, you shouldn't write about things that would get you in trouble.
I understand the desire to invisibly post, but everything you do can (and someday probably will be) traceable back to you. Remember that and the golden rule and you'll be set.
Huh? The UN is decredited? Say it ain't so, Picass0.
In a more serious train of thought...it will be quite interesting to see what occurs after this war is over and all the fall out begins. Will the world realize that the UN is/was ineffectual or will it be yet more US bashing?
Since Jupiter is the largest planet in our Solar System it has influenced our neighborhood second only to the Sun.
Damnit, that's it. Jupiter and it's "friends" are creating too much havoc in this neighborhood, driving prices down, playing their music too damned loud. The police won't help, the astronomers seem to like it. Bah.

Seriously.
His first few books in the WoT rocked my world.
Now, although I haven't given up on them, I just don't have the heart to see one more smoothing of the dresses, tugged on braid, or no Mat.
Give us back our Jordan we used to know, damnit!
I'll have to give this dude a read. thanks for the review

LET...IT....GO.
this message brought to you by the sarcastic Em.
and the other 14 to...
to what man? My God, the suspense is killing me!
Wait, I got it....the other 14 sue IBM!
Lameness filter encountered, post aborted.
Reason: Your post is stupid. Try typing better stuff.
...and Mozilla is the victor...
and then everyone starts bitching about how they have to use mozilla and there isn't any innovation, Moz has a monopoly,etc,etc....
I vehemently disagree with your post.
The browser wars will be over when we the consumers get a choice with whatever operating system we choose to use.
Not stuck with IE (which I am forced to type this from--at work) or Mozilla.
It's all about us being able to freely choose.
I sincerely question the Slashdot-newsworthiness of this.
Hi, I am a member of the slashdot welcome team. You must be new here.
Welcome!
Man, I remember heading down to the arcade and mashing the hell outta the buttons on this game.
I spent a ton of time on it.
15 years already?
Wow. I feel old.
Nah, the world revolves around new york city.
Gotham.
Too bad it sucks!
Hah, easy there NYers, just yankin your chain.
the 16.000...that would be 16,000 for us savages in America right?
If so.....DAMN.
on wall street.
there the ones giving these CEO and CFOs all the ideas that they must increase profits and growth at unatainable/unsustainable rates.
Now, I have never been to business school, but even I know that companies can't expect to increase forever at insane rates.
The bust will give these people time to grow at a slower rate, while not worrying so much about what some dork on the street thinks.
Perhaps I can be of some assistance.
Here's a novel thought in this day and age.

Shit rolls down hill.
The people that will truly suffer from all this crap are the lower level folks....
as always.

I'm moving.
Just like anything else...
too much of a good thing is still bad.
Too much alcohol, the body revolts.
Too much work, you revolt.
And it's because the economy is in the crapper, not in spite of it.
If the economy was similar to what it was a few years ago, then sure, R&D dollars would be up a lot.
Am I the only one that sees this correlation?
You forgot the ending.
IIRC, it goes a little something like this:
I shook my head in the affirmative.
"Good", he said, "Now go play with your sister, Broken Rubber."
appears to be lost in the sands of time.
For now, I will call it 404-Unavailable.

Yeah, ok.
very clever.
I about spit Dr Pepper all over my monitor.
Yeah, I know.
Funny thing is, I don't do programming for a living.
I have to suffer with the consequences of poorly developed code though.
I am considered management where I am though. Call it luck or call it a curse.
People tend to focus exclusively on their area of expertise.
:D
Otherwise they become managers
What would you consider to be your biggest "win" so far?
How about loss?
I am sure a lot of us here think we know, but it would be interesting to hear it directly from you.
thanks for fighting the good fight.
We keep reading about all these spam conferences and how we can make a difference and all that.
My question is this.
EVERYONE knows what a pain in the ass spam is.
NO ONE likes it. Why in the hell are people still debating this crap?
Yeah, I am aware that they are determining different ways to handle it and everything, but what's the point?
There is no viable solution other than using trusted addresses or outlawing it and making HUGE FINES the cost of spamming.
So, do that and your spam problem goes away.
I thought you were just giving us a preview of what /. would look like on one of these bubbles:
RIAA BAD.
two days later
RIAA BAD.
Update by T:Yes, this is a dup, but they are still bad.
