When I first got my cablemodem connection, it was with an older hybrid cablemodem. Got about 1.8mbit/sec downstream, and about 500kbit/sec upstream, and I could use all of that upstream and it didn't affect my downstream at all.
No fucking way, Hybrids use Telco return, and are usually 14.4 modems (sometimes 28.8) Perhaps your old modem was a Terayon or something.....
I had an Amiga 500 with a 1200 baud for a LONG time. I really just used it as a terminal, no downloading. And then I got my PC, with a 14.4:) That was a happy day, since a lot of BBSes at the time started switching to "high speed only" leaving my 1200 baud out of the loop on LOTR and TW2002 (which I still telnet in to play over the net to this day) awww, memories
Oh yeah, downloading on the OC-192 at work (ISP) sucks compared to the 14.4 modem I used to have. gimme a break. Stuff moves WAY easier now across the state/country/world without all those pesky LD charges or blue boxen.
You COULD run WinCE on the DC, but it wasn't on the console (the OS never is) it was on the game disc. And MOST (90%) of the games used Katana, the Sega OS, NOT CE. The CE games sucked.:)
Wait, pocket receiver? So the whole thing DIDN'T fit on a watch, and they had to hide the bulk. Today, they wouldn't use a wire, they'd use bluetooth from pocket to wrist:)
But I just don't bother. I generally get my DVDs cheap enough, that its worth it to me. The quality is much better, and I'm a sucker for special features, like Director Commentaries, and shit like that. I still download a bootleg of a soon to be released flick (ie still in theaters) but thats really about it. CDs on the other hand, you get 99.9% of the use, with 1% of the cost, whats the point? A movie costs the studio $100 million, I can buy it for $17. A Record that cost maybe $1 million in studio time is $20 at the Mall. That makes SO much sense...
Get it? Its always great when you put together that new system, and it posts for the first time with that reassuring singular beep. What isn't reassuring is putting it together, hearing the fans and HD spin up, followed by silence and a blank screen:)

Anyone remember the Shoot-em Up construction Kit for the Amiga? I loved that thing :)

Frank Black would be turning in his grave if he could.
When someone posts a non-spammed proof email address in a mailto link on the frontpage of /. ??? I guess I know who to ask now....
I get quite a bit just from the comments I post.

Gotta Love /. there needs to be a mod for this.
Inside my virtual machine, where then I can run some sort of virtual reality program where I can interface with Eliza.
Never EVER testify like this, no matter WHAT the DA promises you. Shit Kevin, I thought you knew better?

I just love how they mix miles and kilometers in the same damn post. One or the other, geez.
They fucking are superstars, you moron.
Best Weezer Album = Pinkerton, hands down.
Blue is good, but so is Maladroit.
Honestly, while the green album is good, and i enjoy listening to the songs on it, as Weezer goes, its their weakest effort.
First P.O.S.T.

Cool eh?
This is illegal as you can imagine.
Though.... "DOS isn't done until Lotus won't run" does ring a bell.
Need to run Linux? Their boxen would get r00ted faster than people who didn't patch their apache yet.
Then the hackers can do real damage, as the poor chumps with a cable modem spew malformed packets at unsuspecting routers.
Wait, with XP and the ability to get raw socket access, we're in trouble anyway.

Could you not write a CGI in PERL that then executed PHP and sent it to the browser, because I really think you could :)
