The rest of the modern world looks at the USAs health system and just shakes their head. Every other modern western country uses government run primary health care, usually overlaid with a smaller private system. The private system gets used for those who want a specific surgeon, less wait time, or elective procedures.
but, in the land of the free, home of the brave, god forbid if someone who made poor health choices got treatment from my tax dollar: let the loser die or least be a debt slave for life.
Bezos should be advocating for government funded primary health care: not yet another private system.
Australia has been infested with hard left/green ideology in Victoria and South Australia. They have been blowing up coal plants and putting in windmills leading australia to having close to the highest electricity prices in the world. These fools in power then export vast quantities of coal to China, who are building 100 coal plants dwarfing anything Australia does.
When Bitcoin was $1 and it went to $2, should have you sold then and taken your 100% gain? What about when it doubled again to $4? It's a fools game for speculators and is not much different to a casino. The technical criticism of Bitcoin valid years ago: what can't be predicted, is the herd mentality of greed.
They should check carefully if they have 'property of CIA' inscribed anywhere.
Actually, on a side note: Some of the chips that are needed for drones (ARM controllers, IMUs) have serial numbers (such as mac addresses). Could track the supply chain!
Australia has been at the forefront of reducing smoking. It is banned in all indoor workplaces including clubs and pubs. They are hidden from sight at point of purchase. Advertising was banned in the 80s They cost usd30 per packet. Packets are plain with with only the brand name in a fixed font with a gross photo of a dying smoker. These reforms have been ongoing for 30 years, and it's now rare to see anyone smoking anywhere....
Gruen (Australian ABC program that debates how the advertising industry influences you) spent about 5 minutes on the iWatch. It said their initial marketing campaign positioning it as a luxury item failed. They couldn't compete with the Rolexes and Breitlings of the world. So they have done a major re branding, positioning it as a life saving device.. literally they showed an online ad by apple (only had 1Million views) having real users telling stories about how the watch saved their lives! Apparently its working.
We use C for most of our embedded projects (sometimes c++ in more complex projects). qt (C++ + a framework) for gui applications (both embedded and pc) c# for in house tools (like ATE, and business logic tools)
Then there are some dregs written in Python or whatever an engineer wants for a quick tool.
Australia is spending a motza on rolling out a national broadband network. I'm now wondering if it would have been better to spend that $70B on a next gen LTE rollout. (aka 5G)
Hah, what did you Amercians do to deserve Pai. He's not even trying to hide being bought by big money. He should just setup a bidding platform to buy legislation.
The NSA must be super excited. Even George Orwell would be impressed with the progress we have made for a future global government to both identify who and where we are at all times.
“He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.” Revelation 13:16-17
Christians have been on the watch out for a one world government that controls all trade. It may not happen in my lifetime, but I can certainly see the chess pieces moving into place such as:
- Terrorism is the big bogey man, so we need to identify people for our 'safety'. - A world wide interconnected financial transaction system. - Personal identification becoming important because criminals steal your identity.
This mark could be some future bio chip, with built in cypto, that only works when it is implanted in you and it acts your world wide identifier. This mark will become so crucial for doing anything, that people will be compelled to use it, all under the guise of building a safer global society.
Being from Australia, I can at least comment on the cultural impact of guns.
In the early 80's KMART were still selling rifles. There were heaps of guns around.... but, the primary use for our weapons was for taming wildlife, not seeing them as object of personal protection. In the USA I believe it is the reverse.
Australia was also becoming very urbanised and after the Port Arthur massacre, semi automatic weapons were banned. Now you can still buy guns, and every farmer has several, but: - They must be kept in gun safes - All guns are licensed - Police do come and check your serial numbers against their records - You have to be a member of a gun club or be on a rural property. - You have to do a firearms safety course before being issued a license that must be annually renewed. - There are strict background checks.
What I have noticed, is - I never hear about kids accidentally shooting themselves anymore - Rarely hear about gun suicides. - Never see guns in public, except on Police - No one here worries about getting shot, because generally when it rarely happens, its criminals shooting each other.
The USA will never change their gun culture in my lifetime: so massacres like this will just be the price of that culture.
I just watched DrStrange at my folks place where they have an OK stereo (compared to my home cinema which has great sound), and the mixing was abysmal for LoFi. The dialogue volume level was very unmatched to the action sound level.
This has been going on for roughly 5-10 years. Each and every time a company, a club a resort...implements this, some dodo who has never heard of this, posts this here as 'news'. It's not.
+ no ones quoted the Bible yet. Revelation 13:16 (Remember, this was written 2000 years ago) It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666.
Well, jwdb. I'm happy to be criticized (and I did read that part in the paper, but I've never seen one). Educate me and link me to a data sheet of one of these 'resetting adcs'
I've skip read the Paper and/. comments, and this reads like mathematical wank by guys that have never touched an oscilloscope.
First, they are waving their hands in the are about a magic 'resetting ADC'... seriously... Do they even know what reset means? It has to be performed at the hardware level, It has to performed with DC offsetting (from a D/A converter), it has to be performed to 1 least significant bit of accuracy, and the input signal has to be rate limited. No way this will happen for any practical systems without adding artefacts when the offsetting circuitry tries to slew the input within one sample period.
The only real world way I can think of, that still retains DC accuracy, is servoing the input. This is where a 'counteracting' force is used to subtract from the input... but servoing has hairs all over it, as it has to be super accurate in terms of amplitude and frequency response.
They should have talked to an electrical engineer before spouting off this rubbish.

Just about every Protestant based church has a local board of elders that oversees the church staff.
Here's the problem.

Yes it will be debated, but only from the political correct viewpoint, which is in effect silencing his opinion.
