I didn't do anything fancy when I installed OroborusX. I'm using XDarwin from www.xdarwin.org. I don't know what fink installs so that might be your problem.
But the average consumer doesn't want a freakin Beowulf cluster of graphics cards taking up PCI slots and that is why they bought nVidia boards instead.
Looks like Robert P. Crease got trolled by you lot when he first came here. If you read his poll results he mentions that the poll was reported on Slashdot and prints some of the Slashdotters views on science:
One of the contributors described watching small plastic bags circulating in wind pockets, commenting that "sometimes there's so much beauty in the world, I just can't take it".
Hmmmm - he doesn't get to the cinema much does he?
Her middle name is the digit '8' and her parents gave it to her. '8' is considered lucky by Chinese people and 'Lee' is rather common so they decided to liven her name up a bit - l33t parents huh?
or am I being ridiculous about assuming that about any Mc* name?
Mc or Mac implies Scottish it means son of (Ni is daughter of but is only used by Gaelic speakers). The Irish equivalent is O'.
You're not in Aberdeen by any chance? My mum is a computer teacher and delights in asking the rowdiest pupil to share his thoughts as to why connectors are described as male or female.
No you can't unless you have audited your code, the OS and the compiler. That will be one hell of an expensive 'Hello World'. Don't belive me? Try this (Hello World)++ on an NT kernel based Windows system:
Its on a Yugo right now. More like it would be on a Ferrari if ported to x86.
Hmmmm. The current towers are not that shabby (Yugo) when it comes to performance! More like BMW (nice human interface and more than adequate performance) vv Ferrari (a car built with cheap ass Fiat components and a kick-ass engine).
Maybe in a year or so Apple will leapfrog x86 - if the rumours about the IBM POWER4-lite are true... Then it would be x86 Ferrari road car against POWER4 Ferrari F1 car:)
They're a bit stuck here - my car's dashboard looks more hi-tech than the original Enterprise! What could they do to prevent it embarassing the original - build the set out of string, duct tape and bare planks of wood?
Er, because everyone and his dog knew Apple were going to rev the towers by the time Jaguar was released? I'm happy even if the credit card is feeling fragile - just ordered myself a new 2x1GHz tower. Should be a bit faster than my lame old 4400 with an overclocked G3 upgrade:))
Seriously though give the store hell - they sure knew they were selling you end of the line goods and if they didn't it just prooves they're a bunch of incompetents.
Interesting things about the emails: All but 3 were coherent. Of those, one only seemed to be incoherent, but was in fact written by someone who spoke no English, and used Babblefish.com as a translator. (Sample: "I love your articles and play your music for my babies" became "I love babies and want to touch your articles.")
My argument may have been terse but I would still say anti virus on a Mac is not worth the bother - at least for home use. Just take sensible precautions - don't run unknown executables; be afraid of MS Office Macros; burn regular backups onto DVD. Even though MS Office allows cross platform infection they rarely trouble Macs because the kiddies that write them expect stuff to be in C:\WINNT and C:\Windows or maybe %WINDIR% if they're really 1337 haX0rs. The Mac just doesn't provide a large enough target for virus writers to bother with and doesn't have idiotic flaws like the virus preview pane in LookOut Express.
You could be right - take a look at the '.Mac - FAQ' title graphic. Notice the poor font quality - especially the 'M' - this looks like someone has taken the Garamond font and condensed it ~80% to get something similar to Apple Garamond.
Also take a look at the page source: it's very sparse; no comments etc. Now take look at the HTML source of an Apple Press Release notice all the comments, META tags, DOCTYPE et al. I guess we won't know for sure until Jobs speaks but this announcement should be taken with caution for now.
Three graphics cards is two cards more than most users want...

I installed OroborusX on 10.2.1 and it runs without a hitch so it is possible. What X11 are you using? Have you got the latest OroborusX?

i'd be happy to use a ppc box as my desktop while not paying apple prices.
After you've checked out IBM's prices for PPC boxes you might not mind Apple's pricing so much...
The term MILF was used (invented?) in American Pie and refered to Stifler's Mom.
Wow! Something from Mac OS Rumors that is genuinely informative :)

I don't get it...those are some great ideas!
Yes they are and GTA3 already uses them!
Unless Apple decided to start adding a version number to the version number
;)
You mean like MacOS X 10?
it allows the big media/entertainment (and now computing) companies to manage your rights, digitally.
You mean the media/entertainment companies are giving us the finger?

Take a look around http://www.eeggs.com.
You lose the bet - it doesn't work on MetroWerks CodeWarrior 6 for Mac.

But what is www.osdn.com/about.shtml doing at number 4 on page 1!
you can heat steam up to where no man has gone before, millions of degrees Kelvin if you have some energy to spare
I think you'll find that the steam will have broken down into seperate oxygen and hydrogen atoms before you get to the millions of Kelvin.
