they should have known that that bnetd could have been used with warezed copies of the game. However, unlike blizzard, they are not trying to protect projects they invested millions of dollars into, and lost sales would have no effect on them.

This is simply a company trying to protect it's investment, and I see nothing wrong with that.

Slashdot, arguably the best linux website will expand in July to a pay service(slashdot complete). It seems that while stories will be free, the actual comments for new stories will cease to be available to non-payers 7 days after the story was written. This is a real pity, I suspect many linux users, like me, don't have credit cards(or cash), and slashdot has good, hard, objective stories.

mandrake's install is easy. But getting the OS to work is not. After a fast and easy install, it took the system 4 minutes to boot (compared to my windows98se's 40 seconds) and then I got an error-message and console (which is useless, if I wanted to type text I would install dos).

But the install program was real easy!

If anything, slashdot is an internet parasite, about on the same level as outlook worms that replicate and cause millions of dollars in damage.

they have been doing this in quebec ever since we had highspeed, the cable hispeed used to have a 6 gig limit per month, with something like 10 cents per meg over the limit, which has since been increased higher to 8gigs or more due to complaints.

This is a real pain in the ass if you download alot of iso's or divx's.. but it doesn't really affect the average user that much.
