Wasn't there a gang that sent a body part such as a hand or penis to a newspaper owner who was going to write against them to scare the person. Maybe somebody should volenteer parts of there body to be sent to SCO's Darl McBride. I am sure that he would soon afterwards stop the lawsuit. I'm not quite sure if its legal though to send biological tissue through the mail. Maybe fedex?
How many people downloading does it take before it becomes common law. That is if common law still exists. If people downloading music is the majority, how can a minority dictate the laws of a whole country, and getting the families involved more directly seems like abuse of power... or at least from my perspective.
I knew their was a good reason I left that classic system around besides for Poker and Donkey Kong. I just wish there were a source for those Intellicarts still. I bet it wouldn't be hard to program tic tac toe for the os. I should probably look into it...
I think this is nice, but I thought that primary domains were sacred and were meant to be kept that way. I guess after all those countries sold their rights to domains like.tv etc this should of been seen as the next logical step. I just hope it doesn't cause problems if this repeats several thousand times.
Not a bad idea, not really a good idea either, but it is very fair will net a positive score for the public domain campaign. The only thing bad is it might prevent stronger legislation because politicians and companies might state "Well we let that 50 year law pass, can't let a 25 year law get because it will open the doors to wide".
I'm just glad to know that the telemarkers are not powerfull enough to overide such legistation(plus they probably ticked off quite a few politictions) and that they will be under more control. The one thing that realy ticks me off though is "Some businesses are exempt from the TSR and can still call you even if you place your number on the registry. These include common carriers (such as long-distance phone companies and airlines), banks and credit unions, and the business of insurance, to the extent that it is regulated by state law..."(from ftc webpage) and those are the people I am getting spammed by all the time, lousy phone company, I give them money and they harrass me with advertisements of services. I'm not paying to be bothered, just to use the phone. Oh well.
Well if I search for appz -warez -porn, websites with porn and warez still come up...
The point is that in the "future" I think that If I searched for "torrent -warez -porn" I'll get the same type of websites because I think the trend for the bitters scene is downwards.
But thanks for your comment anyways.
4) Improvements... by BJH
Bram,
Do you have any plans for improvements to BitTorrent to improve some of its (few) weaknesses, such as searching for torrent files, bandwidth usage by trackers and inability to download if the tracker goes off the air?
Bram:
I have no plans to add search functionality, since that can be handled at a higher layer, such as google, and finding content via links is considerably more versatile and widespread than keyword searching anyway.
Well the only problem I have with that is as more and more links go to warez sites, more and more searchs will lead to porn ridden bitters on the top, espeacly with google and the way it operates on a most popularly linked to basis. The ones that have warez and no popups/porn will be the first to go down.
If they made those products cheaper instead of trying to make incredible amounts of greedy profit, then everybody in america could buy one and like the Model T automobile and Ford, they would be rich. At least thats my oppion.

Well, I'm quite impressed also. I've been looking for something this easy to deploy for demostration purposes, plus theres nothing like having a few dozen home computers at my house hooked up. Thanks slashdot for bringing this news to me!
Well the fact that they are passionate about computers is a good thing. The only thing I don't like is the emphasis on.net and soap, ect in schools. Just the other day I heard that the programers in my company are going to upgrade every piece of software to be.net compatable and all data entry software will be soap based. I slapped my self in the forehead! I certianly hope that some of those purebloods will go to some schools that don't push out microsoft robots.
I'm an young man who got obsessed with using mainframe emulators because I admire the retro style where things usualy work(not always ofcourse), were small, and fast, any advice on getting a (high) paying job on actual machines, it would be realy nice to work with the real behemoths.
In my oppion the answer to the question proposed by this article is that a computer is supperior to a human mind like an idiot savant is supperior to and average human bieng.
They both are able to achieve feats that are almost unheard of by average human biengs, yet for some reason they still can't see the full picture.
Reminds me of how back in the 80's psychiatrists were asked to determine between an AI program an a Scheziphrenzic patient. It ended up that the psychiatrists couldn't deterimine between the two and the conclusion was that while a normal mind is hard to emulate, a defective mind is very easy to emulate.
I just think the two are related. Perhaps we need more psychiatrists doing AI to get the sick computers to act normal?
In my oppion any negitive attribute of the software in relation to security threats with terrorists equals the amount of possitive attribute gained from taking away freedom by actions that are suppose to moniter the little terrorist in us all. Its all the same, even Niels Bohr reliesed the unity of oppisites(Ying Yang symbols on his coat of arms).

I wonder if we could track the cans on our own, any engineers with any ideas?
Steal somebody elses Identity and use theirs.

Evil(dirty) will always win because good(Correct) is dumb.

Well, the bigger they are the bigger they fall, unless they are so big that they fall upon themselves and recieve a cushioning effect.
So direct marketing asocciation gets all this money to sell my mail address, then asks for five more dollars to remove it...that makes sense?

How about free phone calls, internet, and everything the way it used to be, before the .dot com crash?

Now I understand why I could by all those fancy radios at the local dollar store...

Space mining seems like something we need more funding for, if this is the first step then that is great.
Are those events the third or fourth sign of the apocolyspe?
