    Bookstore managers and their inability to classify their wares adequatly should not be a trend setter for people handing out awards. THEY should know better.

    Hmmm, must remember to make sure to tell the sw writers to include a no-terminator/no-matrix function to supress desires to destroy or enslave the human race (and put me out of a job).

    1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
    2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders conflict with the first law.
    3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second law.

    When will they do a study on the effect of playing cowboys and indians or cops and robbers on the behaviour of children?

    Remeber those violent games, played by small children in the streets? The object of the game being to shoot and kill members of an ethnic minority or social class! I mean, every kid who played that must have turned into a violent psychopath gunning down everyone in sight...huh?

    This is simply a act of propaganda by the goverment of the United States of America aimed at the people of Iran.

    Clearly, they are taking steps so that the next time they "liberate" a country, there will be a slightly higher chance that its people will "wellcome the troops with open arms" instead of march in the street in protest against the invaders.

    And as far as military budget spending goes, this is exceptionally friendly. Might even be midly effective too...

    Interestingly, most blind people don't really consider blindness a "disability" per se, but simply a challengee to get used to. I've met countless people with various types of disabilities that really don't count them as "disabilities". For instance, I've spoken with the Deaf/Hard of Hearing who don't consider themselves "disabled", merely more of a "linguistic minority".

    It really sucks to have a disability, so people resort to denial to protect themselves from it.

    Of course, most people humour them. What harm can it do? And why bother to get them out of denial, it would only depres them.

    Personally, I think its unhealthy.

    Suppose you labor extremely hard to create something, it took so much of your time, might have cost you a marriage, every single penny in your account, and someone comes and swipes it from under your feet what would you do? Without patenting there wouldn't be much you could do now could you.

    Suppose (blablablamarriageblablablaworkhard) somebody comes and patents the damn thing before you get a chance to? you did all the work, they just stole the patent from you?

    how do you fire a phaser out of your ship's warp field, across normal space, and into another ship's warp field when both ships are travelling at some multiple of the speed of light?

    1. Why do you assume that PHasers are subject to the same laws of physics as Lasers?
    2. You extend the warp field so that it covers the "normal" space in between the ships?

    Another example is, do you call a particular person "African American," "black," or the N word? They all have vastly different implied meanings, but they all refer to the same race. (Even I refuse to say the latter because I don't have sufficient karma to burn. :))

    Only racists are affraid of that word. If you think only people of a certain skin colour are allowed to use that word, that is the very definition of racism: Discrimination based on race.

    Like Chris Rock said: "There's black people, and there's niggers. And guess what, black people hate niggers too!"

    And BTW, African American? What about people from say, morroco, or egypt? They aren't (all) black, and I'm sorry to break this to you, but they'e from africa. Or what about black people who live in europe? what are they, european african american? What if they move to australia? Oceanian african euroamerican?

    Political correctness pisses me off...
