Maybe I phrased it wrong. What I mean is: Apple is not really relying on best specs, best technology anymore. Just like Gucci doesn't have to come with totally new bag all the time. And that makes sense as they won't be able to be the best all the time.
Just as long as they are perceived to be the best by their loyal fanbase, they will do well. That's also why a smart watch (very much a fashion item) is so important to the lineup. Or white headbuds. It's all to build brand. It doesn't have to be the best, just perceived to be.
Apple is not really a technology brand these days, more a fashion brand. (On a side note, did you see all the hiring of people related to the fashion industry??)
Compare the situation to this: Many manufacturers in the world can produce handbags. Many manufacturer copy handbag designs. But still brands like Gucci and Louis Vutton can demand a premium price.
Apple is in the same league: as long as the brand remains premium, it does not matter what the output is or for that matter what their quality is.
For me the killing feature is to sync to your own webdav or ftp server. I don't like to hand over all my personal stuff to Google or any other and use BYO server functionality.
Oh no, this will mean Raymond Kurzweil has to eat even more vitamin pills (exponentionally??) to sit it out until they find a cure against mortality!!!
Sofar it looks like this is just another influenza variant.
Stop panicking, it's really not interesting enough. What has taken us? Some irrational fear of death? No other news? Organisations beating their drum for self preservation?
USA is in violation of (at least): Article 7.

Everyone has the right to an effective remedy by the competent national tribunals for acts violating the fundamental rights granted him by the constitution or by law. Article 9.
No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile. Article 10.

The New Economy would change everything, old industrial dino's would die and All Good Would Come Upon Man (trademark). The whole world would be Happy Happy Joy Joy Joy because of the new god called Internet...
Every month this was published in a magazine so beautifully designed, your eyes would hurt.
If this man can not predict the future over 5 years, why should we believe he can over 50??

Before 1999 the web has numerous good sites, almost all without advertising, chock a block full of good content.
Sites like Slashdot started like that.
More adverts != better sites. It's a fallacy that ads are required. Don't become a Pepsi, Coke, Apple, Google... drone.
I block every advert and hope the sites that thrive on adverts lose out.
My preference is for sites based on enthusiasm and maybe a small fee if necessary.
That most sites now consider the internet as an extra sales outlet, does not mean I have to agree with it. Hell, if I could block TV ads I would. Actually, BBC Free is sufficient for me, but unfortunately not for other members of my household...
And Apple will sell a service where you can buy pebbles for 1 dollar (though there is pressure from certain suppliers to increase the price for red hot ones and less for certain other colours).
These pebbles are supposed to be used by your iCon only. Only allowed format is square, ogg shaped is forbidden and enforced by Apple's 'fair' use.
Fair use, means you can suck the pebble and put it into 5 different iCon's
Apple offers it's OS-X free and everybody in this sections says take it. Imagine Microsoft would offer Windows for free for this device? Everybody cries out loud. (You can already see some reactions like that around this reaction)
I think it's very wise not to tie yourself to any vendor. With commercial OS makers, you will have to hope they keep the terms the same in a couple of years and as Seymour Papert said: you can't tinker.
It's also a bit weird that Mr Jobs refuses 3rd party hardware makers to use OSX and now he suddenly 'donates' OS-X...

No, it needs an internet connection. LAN would work as well. It's a very nice feature
For me the killing feature is to sync to your own webdav or ftp server. I don't like to hand over all my personal stuff to Google or any other and use BYO server functionality.
So will that still work?
Oh no, this will mean Raymond Kurzweil has to eat even more vitamin pills (exponentionally??) to sit it out until they find a cure against mortality!!!
For an atheist (like me) both the Bible and Scientology sounds like an equal wack job.
I have more respect for Scientology: at least they charge upfront instead of some 'donations' later :)
Luckily Of course a backup was made every hour. .. Oh what? Did not run backup for 3 weeks? Went fishing?
PLEASE
They don't make a difference, for every 'HOT' exec there are 10's (100's) of other brilliant people capable of doing the same thing.
Articles like this confirm the current executive manager payment scheme (overpayment by SHIT loads) that is one of the factors of the economic crisis

Please?!
" If I had a choice between two flights both equally good, I'd pick the Wi-Fi enabled one."
Yeah, same here, given a choice between two flights both equally good, I would choose the one with the swimming pool.
Why do you have shares in MS if you don't like them?
Seems you like their economic strategy? Or did you buy shares to be able to go to their shareholder meetings and try to influence their politics?
0.02 AUD?
Very good point

OTAH if you sue your fanboys, you screw your most fanatical supporters, making yourself uncool rapidly.
It's much easier to fall from your pedestal than climbing it. (look at MS, Sony and IBM in the past and today).
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and in this case the flattery seems harmless and good for the brand?
I remember Wired magazine in the 90's
The New Economy would change everything, old industrial dino's would die and All Good Would Come Upon Man (trademark). The whole world would be Happy Happy Joy Joy Joy because of the new god called Internet...

Why does Jobs approve of Open Source? Nothing that Apple releases is open source?

.. hard disks have a capacity of at least 2 Tera bytes
30 GB looks cool in 5 years but everybody forgets that disks will grow as well.
So forget about solid state.
Agreed.

So, which measures do you propose to defend us from the flu virus?
Buy drugs, which effect is unproven?
I think this has all the signs of distraction as well...
What is the range of this product? When I think WiMax I think 15 miles or so. Nowhere is there any mention of how far you can be away of the antenna.
If the range is the same as iBurst I don't see much improvement. Only pricing will make a difference.
Oops, be careful disclosing public information like that! Eric might not be talking to you for the next year...
