jeremy parish is by far my favorite game journalist/blogger, web or otherwise. when i was younger, seanbaby was it, but maturity and irony have forced my preferences in another direction (even though i can still appreciate a good lambasting in the end of good ol' egm)
Secret of Monkey Island... one of the pirates in the Scumm Bar had a pin on that read "Ask me about LOOM" and would launch into a huge sales pitch for the game if you inquired about it. Pretty funny and smart.
The point(s) brought up in Possessing Barbie, as far as There goes, are pretty obvious and not too interestingly written either. It seems to me that the fact that this subject matter is being written in a narrative format is the only reason that it's being deamed fresh and/or "unmissable."
There seems to be absolutely no mention of Mario Clash or Mario Tennis for the Virtual Boy. While Tennis falls under the realm of the cameo (I guess), Mario Clash is a stand alone Mario game with an interesting remake take on the old Mario Bros. games.
I've found that a lot of girls really like the communication and character outfitting aspects of Phantasy Star Online. Back in the days of the Dreamcast, my sister would lord over my copy for hours on end.
Whether they prefer typing (GCN) or voice (XB) communication is pretty much the only difference in the versions.
That's funny, since the Genesis was one of the first systems that the "cool" people could own, and not feel geeky about, because of it's fantastic conversions of the [then] most popular arcade fighting games and of course the best versions of the EA sports titles.
You Don't Know Jack is a great game for more than one person. It's played on one PC by up to three people, and it's absolutely hilarious. I believe that there are around 10 flavors of it floating around with a new release coming up soon...
real folk colin: "Most types of games belong on the PC. Any kind of shooter, any kind of strategy game, the more complex RPGs, any management (SimCity-type) game, and any semi-serious simulation game really have to be on the PC." real folk colin: is it really a game anymore? moped cowboy: lol real folk colin: simulation "games" are so awful... they're simulators, and simulators are not games moped cowboy: my fav semi-serious sim game is MS Money 2k3 real folk colin: hahaha
I mainly buy console games because, as opposed to pc games, I know they'll always work... and I know that I'll be getting the same experience (except for differing TV/sound quality) that everyone else is getting.
hopefully no one will stand in the doorway and keep everyone else stuck in null space screaming "bobba" over and over...
As far as Shenmue III is concerned, look no further.
It's complete and ready for a system.

A much better article on There is available here, though it has been featured on Slashdot in the past.
1. He'd already left Square
2. Square still owns Final Fantasy
3. Yes, Microsoft is still evil.
soooo.... it's majestic?
i guess it probably would work better as a "free" ad, rather than something people would be willing to pay to play...
scroll down on the main page for their take on the Summit and specifically the DS's lineup...
seems to be a severe lack of RPGs. hopefully squenix has the sense to bring over FFIII.
I believe he's refering to the sprites in the games as "representing" Mario more accurately than the originals, not the games themselves.
However, I agree with you that he is still wrong.

"Gimme-gimme-gimme. Jimmy. Woods!"
...anyone remember PCXL?

this was before playing video games was "cool"

Am I the only one that thinks this Magical Quest borrows more than a little from Cotton?
Didn't House of the Dead suck? This can't be good news...
I guess this means that I'll never be playing a Gateway 3, not that I really expected to anyway.
Series' that good usually end up unappreciated anyway...
The feet are vastly underutilized in gaming, relegated to simple acceleration / deceleration, but they are capable of far more than that.
something like, i don't know, dancing?
It's going to be pretty hard to rationalize punishing Hong Kong students for playing games in class after this revelation...
But I'm sure rampant hypocrisy will continue to reign supreme, as is the status quo in the world.

this has about as much to do with Virtua Fighter as Mega Man EXE (and it's spawn) has to do with the original Mega Man platforming series.

I hope that was sarcasm, though I fear it not...
when it was free and called PE2000.
Shame the site was brought down...
