You didn't quite get it straight. You do have control of the rules. You can increase or decrease the priority of individual emails, and more importantly you can turn it off if you don't like it.
That's just silly, who would try to game it? My friends and family who email me certainly won't. Anyone who would try to game this to get your attention would be sending junk mail which is already taken care of quite well by Google's spam filters.
That said I'll give this a try, but I don't think it will be of much use to me. The mail filters I've already set up to prioritize mail work quite well.
Yes it's difficult to learn Chinese script, however there are advantages to it, as well. I'm always amazed with the speed with which my wife is able to read books - I think a trained reader can absorb written text in Chinese characters at much higher speed than someone using an alphabetic script.
My Chinese teacher once mentioned she saw a study that made the same claim. I can see how that's possible for an advanced reader.
Well, when speaking mandarin you can't see any characters and yet you can typically distinguish between homonyms, so I really don't think that's so much of a problem. However, I think that the hanzi are a wonderful part of Chinese culture and I think it would be a great loss to do away with them.
but I think you could make a pretty good argument that whichever party is out of power always leads that category
Could you? I'd be interested in seeing that. It seems that the Republicans were leading that category by just as much when they were in power (WMD, anyone?).
There's nothing magical about intuition. It's usually just the recognition that a situation is vaguely similar to one you've experienced before. I don't see anything necessarily emotional about it.
Even if emotions were required for though, which doesn't seem likely, they could be programmed in. They too are not magic.
You are assuming the goal of AI is to make artificial humans. Why? Are we really spending all this effort just to create entities that can complain about getting old and fat to us? What's wrong with just an emotionless intelligence that can give objective analysis of complex problems?
I never thought about what they might sound like either, but now that I know what they sound like I can't help but wonder what they might taste like. I'm betting quicksort tastes just like snozzberry.
There is no room for bias in comparing if binary data is correct. There is nothing at all that is subjective about the results of comparing binary data.

Please tell me how a double-blinded test could make these results any different. The only way you could come up with different results is if you just ignore the results entirely and reach the conclusion you prefer regardless of them. If someone wants to plain lie about an experiment all the double-blind testing in the world can't do anything to stop them.
There's still no security to speak of on the trains I've seen recently, just get on the train and go. It's an amazing experience compared to air travel.
I just have to point out, the response that you'd rather have bad thing X happen to you then bad thing Y happen to your children says nothing about the relative badness of X and Y. It just says you'd rather have bad things happen to you then to your children.
You would have to be an unbelievably stupid robber to target a house based on this sort of thing. The assumption that because I'm going out somewhere my house will be entirely empty is wrong probably as often as it's right. Just cause I'm at a Spa for a 2 hour massage doesn't mean that my roommate or house guest (you know the 250lb ex-marine police officer) isn't still hanging around. Pretty much anything short of a tweet saying "Hi, my house will be completely vacant for the next 4 hours" will not tell you anything of use.
The old fashioned method of casing a house is much more reliable, and has the advantage of letting you pick a target that is likely to be worthwhile.
How could you possibly keep that a secret? Within 5 minutes of school starting every kid with a laptop or smart phone would know there is no wifi signal.
Yes, the cell service assists the GPS to find a signal quicker. That doesn't mean you can't get a GPS signal if you don't have cell service. It will just take a little longer.
It seems a simple solution to that is to only give you reminders to reconnect with people who still actively use facebook. Even if they aren't dead, if someone never uses facebook anymore then it's probably a waste of time posting something on their wall.
Here's a suggestion, if paying so much in taxes is such a burden on you, why don't you ask for a pay cut? I'm sure your employer wouldn't mind. Problem solved.
I'm an American and it looks exactly that way to me as well.
If you read the article closely you would see that they didn't call three drinks a day heavy drinking.
You're paranoid. Let's not be naive and think Google needed to add this feature in order to know which emails you pay attention to.

What Mac people don't like beer now? What sort of bizarre cult is Jobs running over there?

Wrong. Just because the soulless, misogynistic, thug-wannabe rap outnumbers it by orders of magnitude doesn't mean the good rap music doesn't exist.
And yes it's music. Geez man, you sound like my mother.

Actually the alphanumeric password in Android uses a full keyboard. Their is also a new PIN option in 2.2 which uses a number pad.
The USPS.
Which "socialist ideas"? You mean liberty and justice for all? Do you find those ideas objectionable?
What Flash? Clearly you don't know what you're talking about.
