  1. Re:reverse age discrimination on Age Discrimination, Indian-Style · · Score: 1

The law is written the way it is because it would be impossible to police minors on a case by case basis.

However the loophole built into most of these laws is that you are allowed these activities with the support of a parent or guardian.
Therefore, if you are ready your parent can take you driving or to an R rated movie.

Piracy aside you may want to reconsider owning a record store.

As more and more people are turning to legally downloading music your business model is becoming obsolete.

  5. Never Say No To a Customer on Learning to Say No in the Workplace? · · Score: 1

I never say no to a customer.

    It's always:
This will affect the delivery of the project.
This will affect the project itself (decrease functionality).
This will require more resources (money, hardware, time).

Put it in some sort of writing and get a direct acknowledgement.

I have a special email folder for just this topic.

A major point of the movie was Peter discovering his powers.

I don't think I really want to see Tobey discover he can shoot webs out his ass.

  10. XML Problems on XML Co-Creator says XML Is Too Hard For Programmers · · Score: 1

The largest problem I've seen with XML is that the content people who often create it do not have the technical knowledge to properly do so.

It's even worse when they've had a little bit of training and try to mark up the data themselves, then not validate the document.

But it's still a young. Easy to use tools are being developed that will let technical people be technical and content people be content people.

  11. Calico Colors are random. on Cloned Cat Not a 'Carbon Copy' · · Score: 1

    Well, not entirely random.

The X chromosome carries the color gene.
Since females are XX it is possible for them to have two colors (white is a defect that occurs elsewhere).
The multiple colors in fur are the result of the two X's battling it out during mitosis.

This is why almost all calico's are female.
The only way to get a male calico is if it has XXY.

The differences in attitude and weight can be attributed to environment.

  13. How I saved money and ethics on Diamonds - Are They Really Worth the Cost? · · Score: 1

I used a local jewelry designer.
The owner of the store knows exactly where they buy the diamonds from.
For some reason local jewelry designers are much less expensive.
I designed my wife's ring based on conversations with her. 1/4 k diamond, two sapphires, white gold. It cost $1400. My wedding ring was purchased from the same store and was based on her ring. We were able to save money by using stones from jewelry that we owned. My ring was $400.
The same two rings would have over $3000 total in a chain store.
