Actually, even a tiny static discharge after rubbing your feet on a carpet can hae a potential difference of up to 20,000 volts. The current is just so low that it's harmless. This is the same thing. Haven't you ever played with a Van de Graaff genetator?
Don't knock it unless you have the first clue about electricity. Go take Physics 101.
wrong, Intel donated a Pentium 2 fab to the University of Illinois.
Hypothetically speaking, you could make your own pentium class 32-bit processor, but the issue is that it would require many man-years of design work unless you copied other designs. I'ts not worth the effort when you could just go work for intel and be doing something productivive.
if you make your own CPU, it will cost more and suck compared to a $92 Athlon XP 2500+ (barton)
that is, unless you're taking advantage of free university resources. Even then it's not worth the trouble.
...But the cause is idiotic as well
Censorship never accomplished anything of value except perhaps limiting little boys' access to likenesses of the human body, if you see that as valuable, and stopping reporters from giving out so much information about troops that the enemy starts watching CNN for combat intelligence. Everything else that censorship has done was destructive.
No, the reason is that the slashdot editors are either on vacation or plastered 24/7. They obviously don't bother to skim articles for typos, or even run it through a spellchecker on their favorite word processing program.
I'm sure they could avoid letting 10-20% of it leak out.

porn websites have been doing that years and years before Micro$haft ever thought of it or filed the patent.
honestly, what kind of kid 12+ actually WANTS to spend time with his parents?
this shows that the slashdot editors don't even read slashdot. This dupes something that is only 5 articles down the page.
LAN Party >>>> multiplayer console
if you pronounce it "sco" as in "scope" instead of spelling it out then it's "pulling a SCO"
Next thing you know they'll be trying to sue every kiddie who cheats in Counter-Strike

Slashdot might as well report every minor version change in ATI's catalyst drivers.
do video games make chicks dig you? The answer is hell no, unless they're nerdy as hell.
SCO is a bunch of IP-weilding terrorists.
