    Dependencies are automatically downloaded and compiled before the port you're trying to install will build. You type "make install clean" and it'll build and install all the necessary components.

    Dude, if you're trying to use sysinstall from single-user mode, just type "export TERM=cons25".
    Exporting TERM and PATH are the first things I do when I boot into single-user.

    No, they configured IIS to pass .cfm ages to the .asp parser. Just security through obscurity. I've seen myspace pages crash with IIS/ASP errors too many times.

    Why do people never mention the fact that Safari 3 had 'private browsing' mode way before Chrome or IE8 were even contemplated?? First it was the story about IE copying Chrome, and now the story about Mozilla copying Chrome and IE. Where's the story about Chrome ripping off Safari?!

    Their first commercial product, Xenix, was a unix os. They should dust it off and start from there like Apple did with Mach + BSD.

    Blackberry Curve with midpssh.

    Midpssh is pretty nice. It lets you enter a command at a time, or enter "type" mode where keystrokes are sent in real-time. You can pull up a CTRL dialog to send CRTL commands, a menu for inputting special symbols not on the blackberry keyboard (like pipe).

    I've had no problems editing files with nano, and it doesn't drop my connection when a phone call comes in, unlike "terminal" on my old sidekick 2.

    I have two xbox 360's in my living room, mine and my roommate's. We're both using wireless controllers, and I have an access point literally 2 feet away from my roommate's 360, which puts mine about 4 feet away. We never have a problem with the wifi signal, or the controllers. I hate micros~1 as much as the next slashdotter, but this is total fud.

    You actually have 3 perks, but having an M203 grenade launcher attached to your primary weapon replaces Perk 1. So if you remove the M203, you can select a total of 3 perks.

    Most Canadian beer is better than the crappy "twist-off" American beers. But Yuengling and many other beers are great. Germany still has the best though, IMHO.

    /usr/home is the default in freebsd. /home is a symbolic link to /usr/home.

    Can I finally use carp on a transparent bridge?

    The carp man page says something about not needing an IP anymore if you specify carpdev, but I haven't found any relevant examples. I'm in the middle of setting up two 3.9 boxes to try making it work.

    I have Mario Party 4, 5, 6 and 7 for the Game Cube, and they're great! It's a board game, and you play a mini game after everyone has rolled. I'd rather be playing a FPS, but Mario Party is still a lot of fun. Another good one for the GC is Mario Kart.

    I believe he was worried that the virus scanner will want to scan every new file written to the system, and a machine that records video all day will already have enough cpu activity and disk io to waste resources scanning large, clean files for viruses.
