You have got to be kidding me. These "people" are defined by the politics they are involved with. They are TERRORISTs. Plain and simple. This is an organization that considers human deaths to be an acceptable expense in the pursuit of their tree-hugging agenda.
If you consider the politics involved beyond comment, don't post the story. HOw tough is that?
I agree 100%. These people are terrorists, plain and simple. What's next, a story on ELF using wireless networking as they firebomb the homes of people the consider "too rich"?
Well, as far as I can see, trainers do no harm to the publisher of the game. Online cheats do. I used to play Quake, Q 2 and Q III quite a lot. Dabled in Unreal Tournament, and Sin was my favorite by far. THen the cheaters came.
I don't buy online FPS games anymore, because the playing field is never level. THere's always some fuckwad who found a cheat that gets past the latest set of countermeasures, there to kick over the gameboard for the other players.
Valve is doing exactly what they should. The day fuckwads are to scared to run cheats and kick over the gameboard because they can lose their fucking HOUSE is the day that people can start playing and enjoying these games again.
I hope Valve cleans every last one of those motherfuckers out. Puts them in refrigerator boxes for their next homes. Makes sure their children never go to a good college. Most of all, makes sure they can never afford anything more advanced than a shitty $8 grociery store calculator for the rest of their natural lives.
DRM isn't necessary at all in this case. THese people are harming Valve's business. They can be sued, and damage assessed on that measure. I hope it's assessed as harshly as possible.
Look into Smoothwall. I'm using it on an old PPro 200 as a firewall/router. It supports 3 networks at the moment (red/external, Green/internal, Orange/restricted (wlan for instance). I have an older netgear router that I keep as a spare (the old PPro 200 has to die sometime...), but even with that, the Smoothwall config can be dumped to floppy and moved to a completely different machine easily.
The extra $5 isn't worth the time it would take to package/ship a single item. Heck, the $5 isn't worth the time/hassle of just driving to the UPS store to ship.
If I'm headed to Gamestop anyhow, and have a few clunkers to unload, might as well bring them.
I'd like to offer an addition to this process. Vacuum Seal bags/containers. I will typically cook or prep a month's worth of meals in a weekend, vacuum seal the portions and freeze.
They will keep this way for much longer than stuff frozen in regular plastic containers/ziploc bags, and you have the option of "boil-in-bag" reheating. That last came in handylast month when the magnetron on my microwave went. Took a week for the warranty repair to get the part.
Add to that the fact that the bags make it possible for a single guy like myself to buy bulk quantities of stuff at the local Warehouse Club, and portion/freeze it, and it's saved me a ton of time/money already.
Many modern console games require them, but most fighting games do not.
yea I wouldn't try to play halo on one, but that's a game designed with the Xbox controller in mind.
I've had one of these Xarcade setups for a couple years now, and I love it. It's relegated to PC only now, as I Have a Pelican stick that I use for the consoles. MIght ebay the Xarcade when I finish my cabinet...
And if the transaction takes on a more caveat emptor flavor, LESS sales will be going on. Yes it will still happen, but there will be less of it. More of the people who are ruining housing for legitimate players will suffer, and less of the legitimate players will.
Once we're on my side of the demarcation line (in this case the cable modem) it's not the cable company's network. It's MY network. And none of their damned business.
You're probably right. I was speaking with the war wearieness of a PvE devotee who has seen game after game decimated by having the Devs listen to a small vocal minority, and ruining the PvE experience based on PvP complaints regarding "Balance" (particularly scarred by the first two years of Asheron's Call).
DAoC was notable in this regard too. Problem was RvR was pretty much all the end-game there was for the first year, before the PvE server was started, so they HAD to work on class balance.
One reason why I'm not playing that game anymore.
I try to keep the jerking of the knee to a minimum, but PvP has always meant "a disruption of the game I signed up to play" wheter I was involved with it or not.:/
Can't argue with your last point, I guess, as I was playing a ranged defender (level 10). I suppose also that my fascination with the testing process also colors my view of the "coolness" of the event, coupled with some lucky draws in my choices of zone instances to check for invaders...
If City of Villains adds non-consual PVP, or will result in PvP players causing headaches for the rest of us via constant whining about balance that results in nerfs, it will mark the END of my involvement with CoH.
Fortunately that's a way off yet.
Auto Assault looks great though. That one I'd consider PvP in, as it practically begs for it (I can't remember Car Wars being anything BUT a PvP RPG).
Auto Assault appears to be to Car Wars as CoH is to Champions... hmmm AutoDuel Champions anyone?
I think I hit maybe, 6 of the hundreds of Rikti invaders. This isn't killed, mind you...I was doing around 11-17 points of damage to these guys while they were hitting me for upwards of 200. These guys were spawning in groups of 25-30, and I was able to target and touch 6. There's something wrong here.
Here's what's wrong. You were in Steel Canyon at level 9. What did you expect? Normal mobs there should eat you for breakfast at that level. Of COURSE uber invaders will. THey're geared towards the levels that are SUPPOSED to be in that zone.
Nevermind the other issues. Remember, this was a BETA TEST. not solely for the entertainment of the testers, but to find out HOW to do these invasions properly. I participated in many defenses in many zones, and in no two cases was the wave or waves of invaders handled the same way. I saw the "friendly/non-targetable/non-hostile" bug (in at least one case these appeared to be intentional decoys, however), and a few other problems. Better now than when the game is live...
And therein lies the problem with organized religion. It cannot represent the will of the alleged diety that it upholds, because it will always be bent to serve the will of the polyester clad salesmen who define it's requirements to the drooling masses.
I don't listen to Pastor Bob. Pastor Bob is a luddite imbecile who lusts after his 16 year old step daughter.
Not when the religion serves no other purpose but to be an excuse for such actions. THat and to be a crutch for the weak minded. I have never met an allegedly devout religious person who was willing to take responsibility for his own actions and decisions. I have no respect for that kind of intellect. "it's gods will" Bullshit.
Bullshit. An irresponsible parent is not an excuse to censor MY entertainment. It's an excuse to jail the parent as negligent and make the child a ward of the state, but it's not MY problem. Stupid people should not breed.
Entertaining games == Rewarded murder? you're a fucking idiot. And a demagogue.
Police your own kids and keep your laws off my entertainment.
Of course. Organized religion invariably encourages poor parents to have children that they can't afford to raise. All the more better to raise religious zombies.
Organized religion "toils" for no one but itself. It does "good works" simply to preserve what is left of its power.
You had witnesses. You should have pressed charges.
Then sued the manager personally.
You have got to be kidding me. These "people" are defined by the politics they are involved with. They are TERRORISTs. Plain and simple. This is an organization that considers human deaths to be an acceptable expense in the pursuit of their tree-hugging agenda.

WHen you "protest" by sabotaging trees so that loggers will be killed when they try to cut.
WHen you intentionaly impede international shipping so that your "voice" will be heard, and in the doing cause a menace to navigation.
THat's terrorism. Your right to speak your mind ends where my right to not be endangered by it begins.
Your organization has done that. Repeatedly.
Fuck, when the FRENCH have had enough of you as a non-governmental group, you know there's a problem.
I agree 100%. These people are terrorists, plain and simple. What's next, a story on ELF using wireless networking as they firebomb the homes of people the consider "too rich"?
All Primus/Sausage/Col. Les Claypool's Fabulous Flying Frog Brigade
All the Time
(except when you're playing Rush)
Popular? no. It will change your customers' attitudes though.
The smart ones, at least...
I'm sorry, just because some steroid-ridden idiot can't make millions of dollars at it doesn't mean it's not a sport...

I hardly think that a vehicle like the Prius is a good way to showcase a game like GT4.
Unless the racing has been replaced by "fuel economy."
Now give me a demo with just the new Subaru WRX variant, and we have something...
Convenience.

...welcome our new radioactive bacteria overlords!
I worked as a projectionist for one of the major chains, in Florida for over a year. I was never a member of any union.

I'm certain that the crack that they throw you to make you think this is a good idea takes up most of that...
;) or the like
Just insist on codecs that are worth a shit, like Divx
