    Does that report count retrocomputers that run MS-DOS and Windows 3.1 and Windows 95? I know a lot of people who still do use older PC technology. Modern Linux won't run on them unless it is command line based. The old 8M and constantly swapping Windows 95 machines with a 486DX 66Mhz processor or 386SX processor at 16 Mhz.

    I strongly suspect that the marketshare of 386 machines is somewhat lower than that of Linux.

    I'm not familiar with TCL, and I disagree with you on Java, but saying C is more readable than Perl or C++ is like saying a turtle is faster than a snail.

    I'm guessing that the OP means he's never met an EXCLUSIVE Linux user. Most Linux users I know either dual boot or have a seperate Windows box.

    How does putting Safari 3.2 on Software Update, where by default it will be received by every internet-connected Mac OS X user in the world, count as a release that was "quietly slipped out"?

    Well, if they announced it weeks in advance, over a bullhorn, with a marching band, it would have been released loudly.

    Most of the bullies I faced in school were bigger than I was, but that didn't mean I couldn't hurt them. Bullies go for the easy targets. If you prove you're not an easy target, he won't mess with you, even if he COULD beat you.

    Interestingly enough, the "bullies" from my school days are quite pleasant now that they finally matured.
