I am able to browse his list as easily as I browse mine - I can even preview the song wirelessly before transfering to my Zune. I take about 30 tracks and permanently store them to my Zune.

THAT would be an iPod killer... what makes it sad is that it's only the stupid software that limits the aforementioned ideas. I hope someone is able to come out with a custom OS that enables users to do just what I've described.

  13. Not a niche ... yet. on PC Game Market 'Becoming A Niche'? · · Score: 1

I agree with most of the other comment posters in this thread - PC games are by no means a niche market - but the article headline says 'Becoming a niche', and I think that's key.
I think we're starting to see more and more developers putting their main focus behind consoles, then just doing a lazy port over to PC (Ubisoft's XIII and Beyond Good & Evil spring to mind). When this happens PC game quality suffers, and does in fact become a niche.
We're not there yet, certainly not for at least 3 or 4 more years, but I seriously doubt PC games will ever reach the 'niche' status. Especially with big money makers like WoW backing them up.

As far as pc hardware vs. console hardware, if you already have a computer, really all you need is a basic 3d graphics adaptor ($70+), if you buy the lowend $70 cards - yes expect to buy a new one next year. If you buy a $200 card, chances are you won't have to upgrade for at least a couple years - maybe more depending on the level of quality you're willing to accept. I've had my X800 Pro since it's release 2 years ago, and it handles all the new games VERY well.

It is all about the games, and the experience the games give you. Provided Nintendo's new controller idea is a lot of fun to play with, I have a feeling you'll see a market shift.
Fanboys can change allegiance, and will if the tech is cool enough.

Everything you need is built into your web browser!! As for office apps, there's a good range of "Web 2.0" office suites that you could use.

Which is true to a certain extent, words that are used to describe computer terms like "Fatal Error", "Device Driver", "Operating System" are quite unique to the computer world, however analyzing the words themselves one should be able to decipher what the term means.
Kids need to start with this kind of solid logical foundation - that computers aren't big jumbles of confusing numbers, icons, and buttons.
They should also be forced to use a command line until grade 5. I've found that once someone learns how to do even basic shell functions they feel much more empowered and confident.

Kudos to Nintendo! I know a lot of my non-gamer friends are excited to see games from older systems (especially NES and SNES) able to be played on the next gen Nintendo system.
Everyone knows a major factor on if game systems fail or prosper is the number of good titles they have. Sony and MS are pushing developers to make new crazy things for their new crazy system. Nintendo chooses to 'think differently' and use older - already proven good - game content for their new system - in addition to the titles that will be new to the Revolution.

It's sad that EA gobbled up such a great little company and is now exploiting them to make money for themselves (although I'd bet they treat Maxis very well because they're a big money maker for EA ... see The Sims - and now Spore).

Now if only cell phones could do this.

My phone (Nokia 5100 - the new one) can do this, in fact before I got rid of my Palm I beamed all my contacts directly into my phone VIA infrared. I would assume if you have a Nokia phone with an IrDA port you can beam contact info from phone to phone. They just need to make it easier (it's buried on a 3rd teir menu when looking at contacts ... on my phone at least).

Does anyone know if Bluetooth supports this kind of 'business card' exchange? If so why isn't it more popular?
