Thankfully I live in Seattle so maybe I can collect an easy $500 before Microsoft guts the current law.
Obviously you have no idea how these things work, if you even try to get any money from M$ they will just sue you for trying to cut into their profits! I mean really, huge monopolies cant afford to have people suing them willi-nilly for little things like 'breaking laws'.
Better yet, dont go for CS, go for something else i like http://www.mechatronics.com/mechatronics. Some form of engineering is probably a better choice (bettet in the sense that you end up with more options) I was a CS major thill i realized how narrow a field it is, the basics of engineering never change, CS changes every week
How about providing the user with a "Are you sure you want this here?" dialog every time something's copied in there?
Now how would the continue to pester you about registering if every time they tryed to put that reminder crap in your startup folder you just clicked no?
Or it would be nice if money was invested in technology that is in most business... besides i really dont know how much of a success having attendanc go up is, ill bet the only reason it is up is because the scoll has high speed net access, or a great network for fragin' and file sharin'
"Hmm. Too bad it's illegal for you to rip them to Mp3, then you'd only need 22 CDs."
rip software to mp3? well, i mean i could see it working for windows (its not like the lossy compression could possibly make it any worse) but i dont think the rest of it would work too well
"Flamebait? He's got a respectable point. Most Windows users (including myself) are afraid of what we lose when moving to Linux. Having VM-Ware (at least initially) would make the transition much more bearable"
Thank you! I have installed my suse 7.2 pro many MANY times, and every time i find myself going back to windows software. Linux just does not do for me what windows does (eh, like crash). I have 2, 200 cd cases full of windows software (true iv probably never used 1/4 of it). still No matter how many times i install linux nothing changes and the fact is i just dont know it like i know windows, and it is not even close to as user friendly! iv been a windows/dos tech for years, and ever time a customer asks me about linux i have to be honest and say 'Just for the money over to MS, cause im not gonna take the time to install windows for you when you realize you dont want it' without great software like vmware and wine, i might never have any reason to boot up linux (except maybe all those cool games that come with suse)
broken many a power adaptor (and the part of the device to which they connect) by tripping of over the chord...some if these still work, and the rest sit in the broken box...waiting to live again
Dropped my laptop off my desk in class (ouch that hurt) and it still works! although the HDD does have some bad sectors
dropped another laptop (i seem to have a nack for this) and broke the feet off back of it, but it still worked...for a while.
i dropped a cd burner last night. but it was only a 4x.
I always hated those old simm chips that slide in at an angle then click into place. I definetly put some of those in wrong.
or how about the ZIF CPUs that had the notch on one side to tell you how to put it in...those were never safe
when i was first learning how to repair monitors, i had just started work on a nice 21 incher when lunch started. I came back from lunch to see my boss had fried it by using a metal skredriver to adjust it (as he had told me not an hour before to NEVER EVER EVER! do)
and of course iv plugged in my fair share of devices while the computer is running.
I really hate it when you stick a PCI (or any other) card in, and just after you turn on the computer you check to make everyting is secure, and end up pusind the back half of the card in (oops!)
my advice, dont do these things, i can honestly say i have never once had anything like this help me in any way
Oh yeah, and one time when i was being really really stupid...i didnt use an Anti-Static Wrist Strap
I'm glad to see that Rockstar is being successful and not taking a pounding in sales for having some content that several concerned mothers don't approve of.
eh, i dunno, does that mean that everytime microsoft has to go to court for being a monopilistic beast it does nothing but help them...how depressing
too bad it would probably be made by the music corps who 'know' that you will 'mathematically' (as in mathematically adding to their bank accounts) like the 'brand new' (as in manufactured worthless crap) 'music' (as in anything but) they are producing
on those users that they believed were illegally trading copyright material
So whats next? will they be able to arrest you for speeding if they BELIEVE you may have spead at some point in your life? or mayble thell arrest you if they BELIVE you have tryed drugs...ya, this sounds like a great idea to me
I know i didnt get this, so i think this is the important info: "There are some apparent curiosities with current interconnection arrangements. If I am connected to a smaller ISP and I send an email to my friend at one of the four larger ISPs, the larger ISP will generally charge my smaller ISP for sending the email. However, when my friend at the larger ISP sends me a return email, my smaller ISP will have to pay the larger ISP once again". ya, that dosnt sound real fair
The reason that they recieve so few calls is because people know that microsoft makes shiet software, and have learned to live with it. It dosnt matter how may times you report a bug to them, its not like they care, or will ever fix it. If you are calling them its because you bought the software...They already have your money, therefor any problems you may have are exactly that YOUR PROBLEMS!
Great idea, pick on the starving students, who use to give all their allowence to the music corps, and surly will give money from their paycheck later, and now that they have no money to buy CDs or defend themselves in court, its the perfect time to sue
Now it wont be the spammers spamin you, itll be the government using this list to spread their political messages...hey, well, if their not askin my if i want to enlarge my penis, it might be an improvement...maybe

for once a security problem that isn't really Microsoft's fault.
awww man...well can we do it anyway? Just for old-time sake?
this reminds me of when the photocopiers in the libraries had to have huge disclaimers about copying any material that was copyrighted
Yes, because i know when i D/L an mp3, i only use it for educational purposes
the Earth may slow ever so slightly because of stronger winds, increasing the length of a day by a fraction of a millisecond.
Ill bet my bastard boss is gonna try and get that time outa me too!
besides, how many /. ers pull 60-hour-plus weeks of gaming on top real work?
Or it would be nice if money was invested in technology that is in most business... besides i really dont know how much of a success having attendanc go up is, ill bet the only reason it is up is because the scoll has high speed net access, or a great network for fragin' and file sharin'

Linux is great...as long as you have VMware
