This is just how capitalism works. If I can buy a lawnmower for $50 less that is as good as every other lawnmower... I'm going for the less expensive option. At least until I can legally keep a variety of grass grazing animals in my yard.
My point is that many buisnesses are realizing that there are many folks out there who are willing to at least pretend that they are skilled geeks and will work for far less than the folks here in the US. The cost of our geeks just wasn't paying off so we're getting cut.
It's inevitable the jobs will be back. They may not pay as well, but they will be here. Meanwhile I should brush up on my foreign languages...
I just happened to be there to see Aida on the 22nd. I was particularly confused when I saw the clothes glowing on some characters. At first I though it was something like a glow stick. But then I saw a plug comming out of one of the costumes...
Too bad the acoustics couldn't keep up with the costumes!
Am I the only person who see a conflict of interest? How can Federal courts make impartial judgements, in the best interest of the common person, while being a client of Microsoft?
I just got one of those messages yesterday. I got spooked because I've got a girl, and it smelled like spam. The privacy policy read like, "You will get spammed". I've done the unsubscribe thing and I'm going to keep track of any spam I get in the future for leagal reasons. My account doesn't get spam, so if I do, I'll know where it's comming from...
Most HDTV sets that I've seen have analog component inputs that allow folks to upgrade the tuners for their displays. Even my RCA F38310 allows you to bypass it's built-in tuner and use an external model. Most monitors don't have a tuner because the standards aren't set yet. True though, I will be very pissed to have to buy another tuner.
In my experiences most managers don't have a clue, with one exception where the grand-poobah had a great business sense but had all the technical knowledge of his managed employees.
I think our problems lie in a situation where someone may have traditional business management skills, but has not started at the bottom of the food chain and earned their way up the ladder. As a result these managers don't know what is really going on. They can produce results on a silver platter, but at the cost of demoralizing the employees. On the other hand, folks who are skilled as programmers, for example, but lack organizational and people skills will have difficulty being promoted (or demoted depending on your preference) to managment levels. Personality and politics is a requirement for effective management, and not just geek knowledge.
I currently own an RCA F38310 High Definition Digital Television. In my opinion, if you watch a lot of CBS, HBO, or DVD's it may be worth it. These channels provide a good amount of HD programming because most of their production is done in 35mm or better. Fox, ABC, and NBC with the exception of the Tonight Show are stuck with standard definition digital for a while. PBS does some HD. DVD's played on a progressive scan, component output DVD player provide a picture quality that makes it hard to go back. The DTV tuner technology is somewhat established, but rapidly improving at the same time. Sets and tuners (best bought separately) are raplidly dropping in price, so patience may pay off.
I just tested www.msn.com with mozilla 0.95 build 2001101201 and got the "Ha ha ha, we are Microsoft and you are hosed!" response. Warm Fuzzies for Bill...
Crap! Sure won't be the Department of Homeland Stability.

Forget "Outlook Killer". Just get rid of the damn clippy guy!
Comparing OS/2 and Linux is a dangerous mistake.
People actually use Linux and like it too. And you'll never be able to beat free, especially in this economy.
Bill having some OS envy? Hmmmm.
Right on...
I'd like to see one do toast too...
And Floppies too!

I'd like to know if it will run nice and frosty like my AMD 2400+ (plus what? Beats me!)
Any more fans and my computer may levitate. That would be just as cool as a good UT2003 framerate!
Is there any sanctuary? Typical. Folks with a great product selling out, first chance they get.
I am troll! Hear me grumble!
...whoops! I guess I should stop monitoring my corporate network. :)
You mean...*hic* the bag thing... *hic* doesn't work? *hic*

Great! Just what we need. The Govt and it's beauracracy and politics. How about just slapping ICANN around a bit, so they get their act together.
I'd rather see the Amish in control of ICANN
???? Cool. Now I'd like to see it done to a Ti-85?

How about the Datalux Databrick? This compact computer has been around for years, with periodic updates.

No doubt. I had to drop a management level position because I couldn't get any programming done at all with my managed disrupting my momentum.
Do few things, but do them well!
