I've got many more too, with some about new plant species evolving, but some of the other sites are harder to search the archives.

National Geographic said it best (IMHO) when they said "Evolution is a theory like the theory of electricity is a theory."

You also stated that "religion ... a lot of it makes more sense then primordial mud giving rise to anything." To you it does. We have a hard time actually fathoming how long a hundred years is let alone 4 billion. With all the chemical interactions to take place and higher levels of structures that may come into place, it seems inevitable to me that over 4 billion years, life would evolve into existence. The fossil record indicates that eyes have developed many times and been lost and developed again, in completely different ways and in completely unrelated organisms. For such a complex structure to come into place many times over, I feel this is a good nudge towards the evolutionary side of things.

If you wish, my observations on why people feel the need to look for a god even if one is not there are summed up in this thread.

When in worked at Macromedia from 1994 - 1998, I had real problems with my eyes. Our monitors were pretty low refresh rates but the key was that I had a Mac blinking at me at 75 Hz and a PC blinking at me at 60 Hz and flourescent lights blinking at me at whatever Hz and around 10 am, I would get really really angry.

My eyes were hurting so bad because of the flashing, It pained me to keep them open. I had to steam in the shower to moisturize them and also put ice cubes in paper towels and rested them on my closed eyes.

    Really hurt.

Got different monitors with higher refresh rates and THE SAME refresh rates, covered the flourescent lights and turned two off and the pain went away.

As I read all the responses, and remember that I do live in earthquake central (SF Bay area), I wonder, "what if the govt is right - at least in principle?"

Sure, plugging in cables is NOT HARD but yes, there are other things to worry about - fire shielding, run through an area people will not want to nail or drill into, and probably more that we don't know about. Stuff that once is mentioned, makes perfect sense but wouldn't be thought up unless someone mentioned it.

Hey, in California, I can see why you would need to be licensed to install PVC pipes. These earthquake things don't happen all the time but when they do, you'll want good bracing and give in your plumbing.

And then again, other parts of CA, do tend to get washed out with mudslides or decide to catch on fire on a semi yearly basis.

All I'm saying is that there's proooobably more behind the scenes that we're dismissing because we don't know about it.
