Lack of competent oversight and a security review policy.
Which is part of the point of my original post. Are these policies put in place for mission critical software where security is paramount? I have no way of knowing. Bearing in mind the additional cost this would entail, it appears that these two policies would be requirements - but I fear that due to costs, they would require too much personnel/time and not be instituted until after the fact of a security flaw being found.
"Apple said the problem exists because its HFS+ file system handles file access in a case-sensitive way, while the Apache configuration blocks access in a case-sensitive way."
If you example, you are responsible for a mission critical software deployment for company or country A and you are using software that is not closed but is say, a product of the open source community, there is little to no guarantee that a backdoor or little known security exploit has not been put in to the code that you base your software system on.
I may be expressing my ignorance to current well run open source projects but actually, what does prevent a coder agent from putting in or keeping on security exploits? All the low level bit and byte override overflow exploits are very difficult to understand for regular people and harder to protect against.
Can there be a point where software that was previously open is licensed for private uses and security audited while development on a private fork continues??
In my book, Grayed out SHOULD mean disabled and not clickable.
In most cases, that I've run into this worked into the UI model very well.
Context often escapes design. For example, the Apple Wireless strength icon in the menu bar of my Ti at the moment is all grayed out - as there is no signal. This is confusing because it implies not clickable.
Why? It takes no thought to figure out what is going on when you eyeball the following line of code:
myColor = the color of myObject
adding some programming styles gives you:
myColor = the pColor of gGameObject
easy to eyeball = what you see just makes sense easier and more naturally. No semicolons. The line ends when you press return unless you tell it otherwise. No brackety weirdness or "When do I use a { ??" These issues may not be an issue to you BUT they do not flow naturally for many and thus get in the waqy of actually getting the programming done untill/if the programmer gets used to them.
I WOULD use C++, Java, Javascript, etc..., IF I could get used to the darn syntax. Too much of the syntax (with natural exceptions of course) just feels to unnatural and cumbersome to get work done easily and effieicntly.
The lagrange point is where the gravity from the moon offsets the gravity from the earth, making a point where there is no gravitational pull towards either body.
Air is pressing down on the scale anyway. It does not matter if it is inside a person or taking the place of a person on the scale. Here, I assume that the air is not compressed.
I saw the video of the magnetically levitated frog a few years ago. Though high magnetic foelds might have adverse affects on the bogy, the frog was there floating in an enclosure.
I'll try to dig it up and post on mac.com later unless someone beats me to it.
I beg to differ. But you don't know the guy. With the timeframe of progression of the symptoms of ALS, he'd be dead already.
It IS ignorant to state "but you don't know they work" without being aware of the situation. Because they are working he is still alive. They have stopped the progression of his condition. This does not happen with ALS.
However, I do enjoy your insights to the sensors for oxidative damage.
I have a friend who has ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease.
This normally puts you out of life within a few years.
He takes BAGS of supplements several times a day and also uses alternative therapies.
It's been several years and he's still alive and able to move all his muscles, do important things like walk and lead a career. You wouldn't know he had ALS unless you asked him.

From the article:
"Apple said the problem exists because its HFS+ file system handles file access in a case-sensitive way, while the Apache configuration blocks access in a case-sensitive way."
Shouldn't that be case insensitive?

I LOVE Director's Lingo and the "verbose" syntax.

Wow, that's news to me.
When did you start having feelings?

It's skin was basically made of thermite?
WHAT?
I find that rather hard to believe.
How about the aluminium internal frame?
Yes, hello. Catholic church? I need a priest who can exorcise Marketing Speak from a poor slashdotter.
Yes, I'll hold.
That there is no god.
Or there is. And he enjoys torturing us.
Anyone know where I can DL a Mac OS X ogg client?

This startling revelation might very well be news to George Bush.

I really don't care who I hurt as long as i can pay my rent.
Nice morals.
Where is my Metal Bat of Don't Do That Or I Will Beat You Again?
Naaah, spent too much time in remedial English as a whelp.
I learned stuff and it stuck.
Dammit.
You can say "anal", I can say "professional who pays attention to the details."
Now enough about your fetishes...
You got it. Why is it that people who are allowed to use a computer neglect 5th grade grammar rules?
Simple rule - the word is singular plural. No apostrophe.
Siiiimmmpppllleee
Might as well learn to pronounce "Nucular" or "Foilage" correctly.
Argh.
I have no problems with execution of spammers by violent mob unless it happens on a day where I can't get out of the office.

Totally great stuff.
It's like an orange red bull/rockstar with malt liquor.
