"Direct democracy is just the first step to tyranny by majority. Day after 9/11, you get a referendum: "Deport all Muslims from the country?" I'd be rather worried that it would go through. I'll take my republic, thanks." - (someone on either Fark or Slashdot, I can't remeber)
Umm, this is Apple. They've always taken a loss on software to drive hardware sales. Why do you think they don't sell the clearly superior OSX for x86 systems, where the OS itself could pose a much greater threat to MS than OSX for PPC only? The money, for them, is in he hardware, and always has been.
...but automatically labeling these newest caught music sharers "music lovers" when we know nothing about them is like calling anti-war demonstrators anti-troop or anti-american. Some of them may actually be music lovers, some casual listeners who downloaded from the worng place at bthe wrong time, but this is Slashdot, for god's sake, not Fox News. We have our biases, but assumptions like this make political propaganda out of what should, by definition, be news. If you want to state an opinion, come out and say it, give it it's own words in the main body text, but don't use doublespeak.
...but doesn't every form of wireless transmission that exists use magnets for transmission? Temporary magnets, electromagnets, but how could anything be done fixed magnets, which are, well, fixed? I'd be impressed if something cool were to replace EM transmission, like gravity, or the strong nuclear force, or midgets on scooters. Yeah, that last one would be cool.

(Disclaimer: IANAS, please correct me if your know better) It's a little something called a normal career in science. How many lifetimes have and will be spent searching for a cure for cancer? There's a decent chance that many current theories in physics (such as string theory) may be wrong, and this will only be discovered after many lifetimes of lost work. How is this any different from many other types of scientific research or theory? Fusion research is not, presumably, just redoing the same experiment over and over with different variable values, it's (again, presumably) like any other type of research (even historical, economic, etc.), with new developments and theories, constantly changing and having nothing to do with farts, shit or 'milking' large, male land mammals, especially those named 'Tyrone' (RTFA, #8).
Just when I think it can't get any more fucked up, it goes and completely redeems itself with some insanely cool thing, inevitably involving a further step towards giant Killer Japanese Seizure Robots!.

Lookd like the bull equivalent of Frank the bunny from Donnie Darko. How long until they just give up and go for this?
Wow, no wonder JonKatz is gone

But for non-graphical RPGs, just stick to the rogue-likes, and you'll be happy.

What? Read the article? I didn't even read the post. Since when did have we slashdotters read past the title before posting?
Alternately: 'Cause we all belong to each other, man. It's all like, whoa. *cough* *cough*
Dude, quit harshing my mellow!
To find things on most P2P networks, people first have to look for it.
Except for porn.

Thus, it is probably 'shoovair', or however the phonetic thing works.
If you don't get the reference, don't bother moderating.
