    ...just not laptop ready.

    The lengths I had to go to get my laptop working with Ubuntu were staggering.

    Personally I don't think it's ready for mainstream as there are still loads of things that should be automatically installed by default (OpenOffice, FireFox, Email client).

    Oh, I might as well plug my FAQ for installing Ubuntu on a Toshiba M70. It might work elsewhere too...

    So, what is everyone's vision of the definitive version?

    Mine would simply be the original* cinema version with cleaned up picture and sound. Lucas should have stuck that on the two disk set along with the special re-re-release.

    Anyone else?

    *Personally though I do like the Death Star explosions in the Special Edition, they look more impressive.

    Gapless Playback for iPod! Wonder if they will update the 5th gen with this?? Please???

    Don't get too excited, MP3s encoded with too old a version of LAME would need to be re-encoded as these older version automatically padded the file. You should be fine with AAC though.

    Some genres just don't work on Consoles and some just don't work on PCs.

    For instance, Street Fighter or Tekken just don't work on PCs and RTS don't work on Consoles. One genre that I think works well on both platforms though are First Person Shooters. I really don't think anyone can say that Golden Eye didn't work on the N64.

    I always thought that the industry saw Europe as more important than the US as we tend to buy more of the Loco Rocos and Katamaris rather than the generic First Person Shooters. Guess I was wrong.

    Nothing's changed:

    The PS3 was originally not going to be released in Europe until Q1 2007

    It then got brought forward to November 2006

    It then got put back to March 2007

    Not really much of a delay in my opinion...

    I won't be changing any time soon though. Mainly because
    • MP3 does not correctly handle gapless playback by design
    • Applying Replaygain to MP3s sets the information into APEv2, which Rockbox currently doesn't understand
