He's not calling all open source contributors "Hari Krishnas", he's calling the ones who heckle him at conferences "Hari Krishnas".
The best test of your belief in free speech is when someone says something you don't like.
So, you might mention that to Fleury, who resorts to name calling and denigration when someone says something he doesn't like. I guess that makes Fleury a capitalist pig.
Yeah, but they'll only work if you have a rock, or something.
I don't think anyone appreciates how funny this is. If you've ever seen the directions for how to use the heater packet for an MRE you'd know what this is about. There is a line drawing of someone using the heater and how it must be propped up in order to work correctly since it contains water. There is a label that points to the thing it's propped up against and it says "rock, or something." Brilliant.
On a side note, I once took my girlfriend camping and I went to the trouble to bring out all the ingredients for stir fry, including the wok. Well, one of my friends showed up with a case of MREs and she decided she'd rather have one of those. Did I write girlfriend? I think I meant to write ex-girlfriend.

The stigma it would have put upon my company would have been devastating.
So, you're saying that just because an employee murdered someone you'd fire him? Just like that? Where's the loyalty these days?
Yeah, no, instead let's all happily link to mov files instead... oh, wait, we need a propriety player for that too.
Yes, but at least MOV files play correctly. I guess I shouldn't expect much, but on my Mac wmv files have never played correctly and the player itself is awful. With the QT viewer at least the sound and video stay relatively synced and you can play the thing back as many times as you like without having to re-stream. Or whatever is happening when you click the play button in Windows Media Player for Mac. No user feedback so it's hard to tell.
I was OK with the idea until I read that they were going to include a copy of Atlas Shrugged in place of a Gideon's Bible. It kind of takes it to a juvenile level. Just leave the bible out, please, and I'll bring my own reading material. On second thought, make it an OpenGL Superbible and I'll go for it.
It's scary that this is all it takes to get a mac rumour going.
Maybe. But perhaps it's just sad that Microsoft users don't get nearly as excited by the latest offerings from Redmond. Apple delivers cool stuff and people get excited about that.
I liked the Archos CEO's comment: "I do not share the opinion that Apple's design for the iPod is any good. That's because I define great design in terms of fantastic machinery. And if you look inside the iPod's technology, it's quite common and unimpressive. It isn't anything special."
Now there's a CEO that should be an engineer instead of running the company. Consumers are not geeks. They don't care if the technology inside is "special." They care that the product works well, does what they want it to do and looks cool. Don't discount that last one, it's what drives a lot of consumer buying.
Steam powered computers? We used to dream of having a steam powered computer. No, in our day we used to strap magnets to wagon wheels just to generate enough electricity to boot into single user mode, but just try and tell kids that these days. They won't believe you.
For some reason I thought that some of the appeal with the Mac was that it used a different CPU.
Most Mac users don't give two spits about the CPU that's inside. The Mac experience isn't about the CPU, it's about the interface, the reliability, the plug-and-play and--for people like you and me--the ability to use the command line and Unix base. I don't care what processor they're using as long as I continue to get that same Mac experience.
Web Confidential on my Treo600 works great. It also has a desktop counterpart. (Don't forget your daily backups). That way you can have a strong and different password for everything if you like. You only need to memorize one strong password for opening the Web Confidential file and all your passwords are always with you. Easy, easy, easy.
"...any 6 year old knows not to play with explosive substances like this."
You're obviously not a true Slashdotter. I doubt there is a single person here who hasn't done something stupid involving explosives, chemicals, cars, alcohol or a combination of all of the above at some point in their lives. It's just that most of us are lucky enough to have survived our less intelligent moments.
OK, it was a bad idea and it's either going to cost them permanent disfigurement or death. They weren't out to intentionally harm anyone or do anything illegal while in the process, so show a little empathy. Does it make you feel better to jump on the bandwagon of ridicule? Try adding a little empathy to your life.
Political correctness. That's the term people use when they're angry that they're being held to a higher standard than they would have chosen for themselves.
The hardware may be inexpensive (not cheap), but the quality control isn't. You're missing the point of what Apple is all about.

Yes, I fully expect to make at least 20% more than that after I get my degree.

Are you sure? That really looked like a dolphin to me.

We're working on a patch for that.
Never try to teach a Republican to sing. It's a waste of your time and it only annoys the Republican.

It's late. Ignore that post. Better yet, get me some oxycontin.
Well, maybe that explains the enormous amount of trust that Rush Limbaugh has in the current administration.
This is coming from someone who has the nickname of "lysergic.acid?"
You know, you're not required to shave down there.
So, it really is a god-forsaken place after all.

By attemtping to divide by zero.
That's right. The Democrats try to add voters to the roles. The Republicans, on the other hand, are busy trying to keep voters off the roles.
Actually, for the RIAA it should be called putative damages.
