yeah, they got alot better with socom 2 and 3. With downloadable patches to the memory card. Even downloadable content to first the optional hard drive and now to usb sticks. Also with credit card verification in socom 3, there is even less cheating, but there is still some glitching going on. I like xbox 360's ability to report cheaters quite easily. Though one can't deny that there is much less insentive to police and maintain your games if people aren't paying a monthly fee.
live isn't that good. Live is just a matchmaking service plus voice. It laks browsing in most games, room naming(e.g. you can't name your room "clan tryouts"), instead of one person talking at a time, it's everyone and often is just a bunch of noise on the mic's anyway. In many of the games you have no idea what a room is like before you enter it. In some you can't even choose the map, even if you are host. Often it's just here's some random people go ahead and play with them. Furthermore the system is supposed to match you up with someone of similar skill level, but often that just fails completely. There is plenty of room for improvement. Right now the only thing it has going for it is consistency. Furthermore I don't need everyone on my friends list knowing what games I'm playing and when. The live system can be rather intrusive.
the xbox's downloads don't need an internet connection once you get them you can play them theoretically forever. I don't know about the ps3, it's still vapor.
Just that little hard drive on the side will do you. Or a memory card and you can re download it somewhere else. I've found the online games to be enjoyable and inexpensive.
so let me get this straight, you are a technophile, with an hdtv, yet you use a ps2, instead of a dedicated(progressive scan, perhaps upscaling, definately higher quality) dvd player. Something doesn't add up. Do you also listen to digital surround sound from the movies through your hdtv's stereo speakers?
>> With the exception of the Saturn, this algorithm has served me well.
well, 2/3, not exactly passing any statistical muster, hope it works for you.
xbox live is a rather poor service. There are some glaring obvious missing features. There is no match browser, or server/room whatever browser, you just get matched up with some dudes, and then after a quick game it doesn't just go to the next map you start over. It's cool for a quick session but lame for longer ones. I prefer the system sony has for the socom series which has improved at each iteration. Though I do appreciate the lack of obvious cheeting that still plagues those games. Though people still cheat at halo2.
I do like being able to download demos, and trailers though. Live is deffinately innovative, but could be alot better.
if you were to compress game info the way that pc makers do, load times would take forever. Sure some compressed texture are on the disc however as a whole the game isn't as compressed on a console disc as it is on a pc disc because you are loading of the console dist instead of just installing it.
PC games have been at this resolution for years - most still fit on 3 CD's or less.
well, that's misinformation right there. pc games have been doing this but after you install a game off 3 cd's it takes up more than 3cd's worth of room because of compression.
but at least purchasers of 98 got 8 years of free support.
yeah because everyone that had windows 98 bought it in 98. Besides have you ever tried calling microsoft for support? I think not.
How many products, never mind software apps, promise that? How many products of any sort have that high of a margin. There are plenty of products you can buy outside of software that promise 8 years of support and far more. Software is held to a lower standard than other industry products.
Actually usually the people going are going because they want to explore the stuff and usually are most interested in it's biology and how to preserve it. The whole medicine thing is how you get funding.
>> Yet, despite the fact that there are TONS more ants on the earth than humans, and the number of generations of ants in all of history, they never evolved to have art or culture.
becasause are and culture as you call it wouldn't make ants survive any better.
Sure, but what are the chances of those fertile offspring breeding? It's ok to have a little gene flow, they can still be considered certain species, so long as there is little enough( has to be less than somwhere in the neighborhood of one individual per generation).
Only if it happened in a short enough period such that the genetic diversity brought by the polar bears is not lost. There would be no selection to keep polar traits in the gene pool since they are disadvantageous. I would think biologists would describe that as just extinction of polar bears, and evolution of a new species.
If the two types of bear can mate and produce fertile offspring, then they are really the same species. That's really an older view of things. There are many animals that are concidered different species even though a fertile rare hybrid appears. The most obvious is wolves, coyotes and dogs. But also different species of abalone, cicklids(sp?) are other examples. Biologists have a hard time defining on what exactly makes a species, because horizontal gene transfer among what are considered species happens surprisingly often.
I've been a Windows user for going on 15 years now, and I still haven't ever been hacked, rooted, afflicted with spyware, or even infected by a single virus of any sort. That you know of.

After it's all done here are the results: the food at Zaxby's still sucks.
well, I'm a biology grad.
In general during extinctions it is the specialists that do poorly and the generalists that do well. The opposite is true other times.
I don't get what this is a boot.
despite what you may hear. The computer gaming market is much smaller than the console market.
In this house we do not violate the laws of thermodynamics.

>> NOT IN ALL CASES.
That's true, however gpp was talking about multi-disc games.
Also he was talking about 1080p games which do need more room for all the stuff.

It's pretty much my favorite animal.
