Can it download a motherfucking mp3 file to local storage from the browser out of the box, no third party app needed yet? Because this wasn't possible a few years ago when someone asked me how to save a meditation mp3 and it was a fucking shit show with the app store wanting credit card for free apps and prompting for password umpteen times unnecessarily. In the end, she gave up. "Long press the mp3 link and save" worked for every other fucking phone but an iPhone. Fuck that shit. So when people give iPhones shit for not being able to do anything useful without a fucking app, I think back to that.

It's not as popular as you think. It was available in Power Toys from Microsoft for XP had virtual desktops. I just didn't see the point on a desktop machine that couldn't do anything else while encoding mp3's. Nowadays with shitloads of RAM, all kinds of shit can be left running in the background and will be of better use than 20 years ago. It just wasn't all that needed decades ago, but was there for any power user if they wanted.

I used fiverrr years ago when someone moved from a no longer supported linux server to a current Ubuntu and the website needed php and mysql updates for deprecated commands. I posted the problem, error messages and my expectations that the website worked like it was previously. I got probably a dozen applicants, went with someone in the middle of the bid but had positive reviews for similar work. It took maybe 2 hours of his time and cost either $50 or $60 USD. I was pleased and so was the company owner. I'd use a service like this for another basic, small hours job for some task again in the future if needed.

  20. If your 100 million dollar equipment runs a desktop OS that expressly isn't intended or designed for that purpose, you're going to find much bigger problems. In my experience, machinery like that doesn't get patched Willy nilly, more like "don't touch it unless it's broken." After a decade of operation, you generally have the software tuned and any new problem is faulty hardware.
