I would be surprised to find any instance of double taxes anywhere. I think the summary is just plain wrong.

You get a tax credit from your home state for taxes paid in the state you work in. Or the other way around.

If it didn't work that way, there would've been a revolt long, long time ago already.

    Geez.

What if the modder would've taken a part of naked arm (leg, foot, neck, face, whatever) texture, then stretched it to fit the entire upper body and then released a naked mod. Would the ESRB still had re-rated the game?

The end result would've been entirely the same, and technically the means to achieve would've been exactly the same, as would've the "fact" that Bethesda shipped the game with naked textures in it.

    Laughable.

"It's unlocking just like hot coffee."

    Well, not quite.

What really happened is that Bethesda modeled the character models as naked 3D human models, then superimposed clothes in them when displaying the characters in the game. The modder then found the "naked" 3D models and "removed" the clothing.

This is not an unreasonable way to implement 3D modeling especially if you're about to do some advanced clothing physics type of stuff which would require the clothes to be modeled separately. I would suspect every modern sports game has the same thing going on for them. My God, *I* am naked under my clothes, too!

This whole thing is a complete hysteric overreaction by the ESRB and people like Thumper Thompson and Leland Yee, who are out to exploit it to their own advantage.

This is the sort of stuff that, if it was happening in renessaince Italy, it would've made Michelangelo's David impossible to craft.

No technical hiccups? That's not what several other reviews claim. There're graphics glitches like "tearing" appearing in when doing a high speed turn and there're some mission glitches that prevent some missions from getting completed depending on how you approach the mission.

The missions are repetitive and ultimately boring. And the voice acting is VERY annoying.

The title had so much promise.

What a perfect summary of an ultra-capitalistic mindset.

Some people's idea of rest and relaxation is vastly different from yours and does not include spending a dime or very little.

Just one example: frying my ass on a public beach on a summer day. If I could do that for 2 months instead of the 2 weeks I do right now, I'd be MUCH happier. It'd probably have other benefits like making my geeky, pale face somewhat more attractive.

Unfortunately, since I only get 2 weeks of vacation I kinda HAVE to do the "big vacation", which leaves me with no time to do "little vacations", incl. completely wasting my time doing nothing on a public beach (or Central Park, as the case may be).

Working long hours does nothing for me other than keep me at work from sunrise to sundown. Since I'm salaried professional and therefore exempt from getting overpay, I get NOTHING out of working 12 hour days. Absolutely nothing other than irrate phonecalls from my wife at 6:30pm. There is absolutely no benefit to *ME*. Yet I'm still expected to "do my part". My employer might benefit from my overwork, but I do not.

    Arbeit macht nicht frei.

If the original poster would've asked how many people over the age of 30 are buying a Nintendo DS, then it would've been a different issue, but since he said age 20, when all studies say gamers are WAY over 20 in avg. No matter how you look at it, there's going to be quite a few people over 20 buying that thing.

You can pretend like Nintendo DS buyers are demographically a completely different group, but that would be completely out of touch with reality.

You assume that platform specific subsets are wildly different from each other and have no or little correlation. All the evidence I've seen points otherwise, including the ESA study I linked to in the first place. It had avg age breakdown between PC and console gamers. PC gamers were slightly older, but only by a year or two, if I remember correctly.

The Japanese DS Lite launch coverage in the press also points to the same conclusion.

If the average age of a gamer is 30, it's a safe bet the average age of Nintendo DS owners is somewhere around that same number. Maybe a little less given that handhelds do tend to be more popular with young children.

However, since the response was to some jackass, who still thinks gaming is for kids, it's good to debunk that myth with some solid facts.
