  1. Prior Art? on Epicrealm Uses Vague Patents to sue Web Sites · · Score: 1

Isn't just about every website they could target considered prior art?

  2. Re:Correlation != Causation on Hillary, GTA, and High School Football · · Score: 1

The sad thing is, I was too lazy to type that, so I actually copied and pasted the phrase from a site on logical fallacies. Should have double checked. Sorry.

  3. Correlation != Causation on Hillary, GTA, and High School Football · · Score: 2, Interesting

Before people start flaming over whether video games cause or reduce violence, I'd like to remind everyone cum hoc ergo propter hoc is a logical fallacy.

  4. Re:"Scathing" != "Untrue" on Linux For Losers According To De Raadt · · Score: 1

Really? I've used OpenBSD for years and I still think you are a mindless jerk. Don't presume to speak for all of us, we aren't all as socially atrophied as you.

  5. Re:"Scathing" != "Untrue" on Linux For Losers According To De Raadt · · Score: 1

You are defining "Linux user" as "people who use Linux"

How silly of the GP to think that "Linux user" == "user of Linux". It's not a fair argument if you change the definitions to support your position exclusively, and then keep the new definitions to yourself.

  6. Nice to know on Big Retailers Timid About Selling Linux Boxen · · Score: 1

I'll be spending more time and money at Micro Center from now on. They've always been good about providing shelf space for OSS.

  7. Hear that? on SEC Investigating SCO? · · Score: 3, Funny

It's the sound of the world's tiniest violin, playing just for SCO.

  8. I'm sorry... on Microsoft to Introduce PDF competitor 'Metro' · · Score: 1

I thought I heard you say Microsoft, open, and royalty-free in the same breath.

  9. Used cruise ship == sitting duck on Offshoring to a Ship in International Waters · · Score: 1

"I reject your reality and substitute my own."

  11. Linux ain't supposed to kill Windows! on Linux Can't Kill Windows · · Score: 1

The purpose of Linux isn't to kill Windows, it's to provide a high-class alternative for those that want it. What part of the word "choice" doesn't the author understand?

  12. Re:Cool! on Nanotech Brings Battery Life Extender for Mobiles · · Score: 2, Informative

I'm excited. Now I have stickers that magically extend my batteries' lives, as well as stickers that magically de-toxify my car's gasoline!

I wonder if the "nanoceramic" uses "holographic frequencies" too...

  13. Re:G 1980 on New Battlestar Galactica Series Starts Tonight · · Score: 1

I personally find the original series borderline un-watchable. The difference between you and I is that I gave the original a shot. I found it almost laughably simplistic compared to the new version, but at least I tried. You are a prisoner to your own preconceptions.

  14. Not that sad... on 'Star Trek: Enterprise' Cancelled? · · Score: 1

I don't think it's sad at all. Trek lost it's edge when Roddenberry died. It's all been downhill since. The torch has been passed - there are much better shows on now. I'll be planting my ass on the couch on Friday to watch Sci Fi's lineup.

  15. Check the receipt! on Gartner Says Linux PCs Just Used To Pirate Windows · · Score: 1

Quick! Somebody check the receipt on that report!

Nooooo, I'm not suggesting that it was "purchased." Not at all...

  16. Hotjava?? on Microsoft To Provide IE Patches for Windows XP Only · · Score: 1

There's been a rash of that happening. I think there's going to be a sarcasm detector recall in early November.

  20. Move along, nothing to see here on SETI Finds Interesting Signal · · Score: 1

According to this bbc article, it's just an ordinary signal, one that they are not even particularly excited about, and are not going to investigate further. Another media blow-out (of proportion).

  21. Simson Garfinkel on The End of Encryption? · · Score: 3, Funny

Either he doesn't keep his receipts, or he shops at a really shitty store.

  23. What's the difference? on Microsoft to Launch Online Music Store · · Score: 1

The store will also be in beta mode, lacking some of the features that will be added later, sources said.

So it will be just like all their other software? How will we know the difference?

  24. Once again... on Soyuz To The Moon? · · Score: 1

Once again our big, expensive, fancy space shuttle seems more turkey than eagle; as the cheaper, disposable Soyuz proves itself adaptable to more missions.

  25. "Yous" on Sal Wise, Philly eBay Scammer Strikes Back! · · Score: 1

But if i was yous i would not take part of what justin is doing on that page.

Only in Philly could a man be so convinced that "yous" was an actual word that he would put it in print.

    OK, maybe in Boston too.
