So really you are saying that you are too unimaginative to see any other options than 1) become a nation of xenophobic isolationists or 2) become a nation that throws away its basic tenets when things get too hard.
I'm a geek, I'm male, and even I can tell she's right. My fiance is decidedly non-geek (she's a chef), and so maybe I've gained some perspective living with her.
But a network port in the bathroom? Even I can tell that's going too far. You know, taking the laptop into the shower is usually inadvisable.
If you need a geek toy to play with while you're on the can, you might want to get an iPaq or Palm and take that with you.
Uhh, this device did not get a good review. MP3 playback was muddy, the TV-connected image slideshow kept crashing, it couldn't recognize the model of an Olympus digital camera attached via USB, and it was unreachable through its LAN connector. Final judgement? Not recommended to anyone except the gotta-have-it gadget crowd.
" Way too big, way too heavy, too much extra crap that's not needed for a portable storage device."
The reviewer agrees with you on every point there, and also adds that it lacked one thing it really should have had - a Firewire connection.
"i can understand it being helpful for disabled or handicapped people.. but for someone normal who has 2 healthy legs"
Since you have to stand on it, I'd say Segway requires 2 healthy legs. For the disabled, there's Segway's immediate predecessor, the wheelchair that can climb stairs and raise up and balance on two wheels.
It has come to our attention that you are distributing a tool (aka the "Sharpie Fine Point Permanent Marker") used to circumvent current copy-protection mechanisms on audio disks. This violates the DMCA. Please stop immediately or we will send the flying monkeys after you.
"Yes, these "linux" systems would be nowhere if it wasn't for the GNU project."
I think you have it backwards. GNU was an operating system in desparate need of a kernel. The HURD still ain't quite there yet. It was expedient to get GNU tools and package them with the Linux kernel to create a complete system, but it would probably take less time for new, open-source, non-GNU apps to be written for Linux than it has taken the HURD to get where it is.
* Pentium 166/128Meg RAM running OpenBSD as NAT/Firewall...it is never over 0.1 CPU usage.
Heck, I've got an ancient P90 AST with 16 Meg RAM running OpenBSD doing NAT/firewall duty - and that's only because I'm redoing my 386 so it can handle PPPoE for my upcoming DSL connection. My fiancee is perfectly happy with her 200/96 Meg Vectra.
And if anyone has any old 400 or faster mobos, I'll take them!

If the LUGs become the driving force, than the LUGs could also help out with remote sysadmin and teaching the faculty and students the job of administrating the machines.
Well, which do they want? First the JVM comes out of Windows, now it's back in, but Microsoft doesn't plan on including it in the next version...
It's making me dizzy.
No, what you are god-damned sick of are people who dare think differently than you.
Technologically ass-backwards, but not so much that you can't get online to read Slashdot.
You might want to watch out for those chip implants yourself.

I would rather throw out Windows out of the computer...
Now that's what I call defenestration!

Favorite quote from the antitrust document:
"[Microsoft's] relentless dominance has simplified our lives."
Sure, right. And slavery simplified the lives of black people. I also liked:
"Many argue that its programmers have turned out shoddy programs, but the firm's objective is to make profit, not superlative programs per se."
Well, they got that right!

...but I'll probably still use the network jack in my room at the Omni William Penn.

And Intel's compiler beat the living crap out of GNU's.
Since you felt the need to reply to an obvious troll/joke, how about if I just invoke Godwin's Law so we can end this silly thread?
The Nazi's run Microsoft.
There. Done.
Will antivirus packages clean any infected copy of Klez?
I'm sure they had problems figuring out where they needed to connect the RJ-45 cable.
Which explains why they went to wireless!

Probably not. Might make a neat party favor or firecracker though...
I hate to "me too", but I have to say I have never had a problem getting either my Epson Perfection 1200 scanner or Epson Stylus 740 to work.
Mainly because, if you read the OTC action statement, they say they have not cleared the legal hurdles that would allow them to solicit funds.
More to the point, since when is "Clear and Present Danger" considered nonfiction?
