If you log out of your European account and go to the US store there are also plenty of records that Americans can buy and not Europeans. I guess the labels give iTMS the restrictions.
Come to Amsterdam, lovely town. Forget about the stereotypes of coffeeshops and drugs, the canals and houses are very nice. There's a good market for IT people and plenty of foreign companies to work for where you dont have to learn Dutch. Plus if you come over and are hired by a foreign company you can benefit for 10 years of the "30% tax ruling" which means that the first 30% of your salary is tax free. The rest is taxed at the normal rate but then you come in at a much lower tax rate. I've been taking advantage of that although it's ending for me in 3 months unfortunately. It sucks that it rains a lot but when it's sunny it's a beautiful town. Do like the locals, buy a small boat and cruise around the canals drinking some beers or bbq'ing. And plenty of small bars and lovely beer - lots of micro breweries in NL but you also get everything that Belgium has to offer. And in Amsterdam you are in a quite central location. Only 2 hour train to Cologne, 3 to Brussels (2 next year with fast train), 5 to Paris (4 w/ fast train). The airport is close by and plenty of low cost airlines for weekend trips all over Europe.
That's total crap. Spamhaus only provides a reference list, you are free to use it or not. If your ISP uses it then complain loudly to them opr move to one that doesnt use it. As for me, I do use it and I'm very glad it exists. A company selling viagra and other dogy stuff has to the right to market their stuff but I have the right to say that I dont want to get their crap in my inbox. At the moment spammers dont allow me to voice that I dont want to hear about their crappy merchandise and dogy businesses. As far as I can tell, they are the ones violating my rights. Your rights stop where my right starts.
That's not really true. You dont need a passport (and they've usually taken out most of all passport controls) between countries that have signed the Schengen convention. There are currently 16 of them and they include Iceland and Norway which are not part of the EU.
You do need to show a passport if you are travelling to the UK, Ireland as they havent signed onto the convention yet. More details here:
woa, let me guess, you are american uh ? Only an american could so twisted to read a story about a bike and think of different ways to sue somebody else, geesh...
This bike is cool (though expensive). There is one parked by the canal here in Amsterdam. Fun to see people ridding it. Although I have seen one that is way cooler - it's elongated instead of being round, and on one side there is a beer tap and a bartender that pours beers for those pedaling! I cant think of how many ways this would wrong in the U.S. (get you sued, arrested, deported, etc)...
I agree that some laws might have unexpected dangerous effects but come on, this should be good. Penalizing criminal acts is good. I just cant wait to see if this will put Gator out of business, they are my favorite hated company.
Somehow I seriously doubt you can get the recommended video card + large hard disk + lots of ram (say 1GB) + motherboard + case + keyboard + mouse + monitor for $200.
I dont understand what is wrong with wanting to make a living from programming. Plumbers dont work for free, nor do teachers, doctors, librarians, truck drivers, even newspaper delivery guys. So why is it evil when developers expect to be paid for their work??
I'm proud to be a programmer and that it pays my mortage. And no I dont ever want to live from selling support contracts.
To me the USA became the bad guys when they invaded a country that hadnt attacked it. Sure I hate Saddam as much as the next guy but going in pretty much by yourself, destroying half the country's infrastructure and killing more than 10,000 civilians is a criminal act to the same level that Saddam is accused of. No wonder the USA doesnt want to sign up for the international court because they know that their "smart" bombs are not as smart.
Anyway, I thought the USA with its precious CIA was more inclined to setup dictatorships instead of taking them down. If Iraq, why not Birma and others? Now dont tell me that there was no oil involved.
Microsoft gives away its CE development tools for free. You can easily download them and write apps for your CE based device (Pocket PC, MS Smartphone).
Wether you are more inclined to develop for an OpenSource OS due to politics, that's a different matter. But dont say that the tools arent there.
Yep, check out the KiSS DP-500. It comes with a 10/100 Ethernet port that allows you to connect it to your pc. You can use this for webradio and also to stream audio, video and jpegs from your pc.
I dont think this player is that hot. Check out the KiSS DP-500 which additionally supports DVD-RW and DVD+RW (the Bravo only supports DVD+-R), OGG and Divx 3.11, 4 and 5. The DP-500 also comes with a 10/100 ethernet port so that you can stream audio, video and jpegs directly from your computer. There's also a webradio feature to stream directly from the internet.
Yes there are still a few bugs in the software, as someone mentioned above, but they are slowly being worked out with new software releases.
New method discovered by Cornell scientist discovers that Slashdot is not cool anymore due to the same words (Linux and Open Source) being repeated over and over again.
But can you land an A380 on a pocket airport?

Welcome, I'm also someone from CA living in NL.
If you are in Amsterdam goto MediaMarkt close to the Amsterdam ArenA (metro 54). They have plenty of cheap DVD players that are region free.
Finnish-based is correct. Like if you were talking about a company from Canada you would say Canadian-based and not Canada-based.
Dolt.

But can they do the "hamsterdance" ?
It's not to make Google's life easier, it's to make your search results more relevant.
:
Spammers have been using 2 methods to increase their search ranks
- link farms. Dunno if Google can identify these already
- posting to blogs. Now this is taken care of.

Yeah and so many people in Slashdot complained too. I didnt see as many complaints when Dell stop shippings computers with floppies.
How about boot from CD/DVD-ROM ?

When I went to college(1979)...
I know you havent been in college for a long time but now they are called PhD's
Your math is screwed up dude, go back to college.
Mark the parent a troll.

Bandwidth doesnt cost money ??
It does when:
- you get your email via GPRS and you are paying for every single byte transferred.
- when you are dialing up to the Internet via a modem and you pay phone charges (in Europe there is no flat fee local calls).
Spam IS expensive wether you want to believe it or not, and I'm not getting into the whole "wasting time sorting it out" and "time is money".
Actually the other day I decided to block the entire .kr country code from my mail server. Kinda sad, but effective...
