    I am willing to bet that many of these small businesses don't even have a dedicated server. Someone's desktop in a workgroup functions as a "Server" and calling one of the employees an IT Manager or CIO is probably quite a stretch.

    I think the easiest way to deal with this would be to just put one of those lamp timers on your Windows box to cut AC power on Friday 5 pm and switch it back on Monday at 9 am, saves on unnecessary tape usage too.

    Umm... Ever see a Kodak Digital SLR? Until recently they were all 95% Nikon cameras. Now Kodak DLSRs are either Nikon or Canon sourced.

    I don't see the issue as the difference between 'its' and 'it's' but rather determining whether 'it' is an indefinite or personal pronoun and therefore apply the approriate rule.

    The post was not really anti-microsoft but examples of ridiculous patents applied for and granted.

    I consider a browser to be an application with a user interface. Oh, and Apples do support a right-click. You just have to be someone with the skill level to understand the use of a right-click, the buy a two button mouse.

    Well, my 2.4Ghz/1Gb RAM Win2K machine seems about on par with my 600Mhz/512Mb RAM iMac at home. Windows accounts for about 50% of my total daily computer use, probably 30% is OS X and 20% is SuSE 9.1 on my laptop (2.8Ghz/1Gb RAM). Windows (including file copying) is the pig of the bunch.

    Actually, Microsoft has been granted patents with vague enough descriptions to be able to cover a double-click with the mouse and using the tab key to navigate to elements of a user interface.

    The last time I read a WordPerfect Suite EULA it said I could install it at work and at home. I think Office 'requires' a license for each computer and an additional one for every user of that computer.

    You may have reversed the cause and effect relationship. Don't teach how to use Word and Excel, teach how to use a word processor and spreadsheet. The software brands are not all that different and the school's job is not to create future Microsoft apologists, I think it has something to do with that student learning thing.

    XP SP2 already does harmfully affect WordPerfect Suite. You can read more about it at microsoft.com.

    Microsoft paid Corel to take their developers off Linux and work on some vaporware, .NET stuff for BSD (or something like that)then Microsoft dumped their investment in Corel. As intended, Corel's stock plummeted and they almost went under until the private buyout. An example of Microsoft amoral conduct if there ever was one.
