This is true, but when Amarok moved to the KDE4 base, I believe a lot of the KDE hooks they used to access simply weren't there. Hideous new UI issues aside, ever since 2.0 they've been trying to re-write the previous functionality into the new framework, which is apparently a lot harder than expected.

They don't necessarily need to stick with GTK(+) just because they started out with it.

XFCE (the XForms Common Environment) for example abandoned XForms some years ago and didn't look back. Ironically, they switched to GTK+ but that makes a bit more sense for a window manager.

Nobody can build a gaming phone. Not until they can make a phone project onto a watchable screen surface (21" +) and with a usable controller.

Serious gaming simply needs a decent sized form factor, which is orthogonal to phone ergonomics.

You may as well ask, "Why has no one made AM/FM paint rollers?"

  16. Re:Google, you are wrong here. on Google Proposes DNS Extension · · Score: 1

Dumb load balancing is possible with existing DNS - one request for a large site will result in a randomly-selected IP from a pool, as follows:

    #host www.google.com
www.google.com is an alias for www.l.google.com.
    www.l.google.com has address 72.14.213.99
    www.l.google.com has address 72.14.213.104
    www.l.google.com has address 72.14.213.147
    www.l.google.com has address 72.14.213.106
    www.l.google.com has address 72.14.213.105
    www.l.google.com has address 72.14.213.103

Of course this has absolutely no redundancy, since there's no fallback protocol and it's utterly ignorant of location.

This proposal by Google extends that idea significantly and looks to me like a good thing.
