    (full disclosure: Recently, I made an impulse purchase and bought the cheapest iPad, a hospital patient needed a distraction and it seems fine for that use when there's proper WiFi)

    I used to be sad about the decline of the "science" based channels on cable tv(back had cable TV) and their change into reality TV. But there is just so much on YouTube where I can learn new things that are far better than the shows on TV provided in terms of information.

    I watch YouTube all the time and have no interest in the people in this rewind thing because I am an old fart. :D

    But my point is that there's plenty of stuff on YouTube that seems to (thankfully?) be off the hype radar and lives it own quiet happy life. A lot of people my age don't seem to know that, maybe because they are not logged in to google/YouTube when they get the front page. I tried that once, it's awful.

    YouTube's Content ID will flag their uploads if they don't alter the video and audio.
    Apparently, Patreon isn't as quick to shutdown accounts of pirates as they are to people that offends someone. :D

    We set them up in either a RAID or EC configuration or other redundant configuration , so that the operations department can swap them out when they fail without downtime.
    Unless we start to see an unusual high number of failures, we don't care.

    Every time I go through US immigration border control, I wish we had something similar instead here in the EU instead of just waving everyone through. (There's some "nice" stories about certain flight routes from African countries where there are virtually no check)

    Look at the ESTA form that is part of the US Visa Waiver program. They even want a list of all your social media accounts. Last time I applied, it was still optional, but I bet it is only a matter of time. Of course there is a worry what they think of people who doesn't use Facebook or Twitter.

    I now avoid Twitter altogether, while the updates from people you follow could be useful and interesting, the following comments are guaranteed to make your day worse. Twitter seems perfect for people with no insight or talent to blare out their stupidity and get it amplified by other numbskulls.
    Worst of it all is that the panicking old news is latching on to that to create clickbait news in a failing attempt to stay alive. Self-destructive behavior.
    "Let's see what people say on Twitter", for the love of God, NO! You have lost all credibility as a serious source of information.

    The sad thing is that the news media looks to Twitter to find "news", someone offended by something.
    The worst possible thing that the old media has done is "let's see what people say on Twitter".
