I said my Saving account (TD) has 0.15 %. I don't use it, I'm not retarded. (Except for when I must (pay check, etc)) I use ING for money I want to keep accessible.
Big banks with rates like 2.5% generally require huge amounts of principal.
You guys get 2.5% in the US?? Are you kidding me!? In Canada my savings account gives 0.15%, I'm not even joking. I wish I was. You are obviously losing money with it there compared to inflation, what not.
The grandparent is right: Compound interest is the key. I've been saving since Grade 7 when I read The Wealthy Barber. But to get seriously wealthy based on that you need maybe 9 or 10%. That is almost impossible to average over the last 3 years. If you did it, you are a golden god of investment.
That reminds me, I have an investment tip for you all. Buy stocks on cloudy days, sell on sunny ones. Over the the last many years, the average gain in the stocket market is 9% on cloudy days, 25% on sunny days. No Joke.
This is a good question. I only figured it out recently myself. I'd point you towards the Ars Technica intro to it. From the opening paragraph:
In a remarkable feat of journalistic sleight-of-hand, thousands of column inches in many "reputable" on-line publications have talked at length about.NET whilst remaining largely ignorant of its nature, purpose, and implementation. Ask what.NET is, and you'll receive a wide range of answers, few of them accurate, all of them conflicting. Confusion amongst the press is rampant.
No kidding! I've never seen a default Linux distro with nice looking fonts. Can anyone elaborate on the secret here? And what is that KDE menu font? It's excellent.
My OpenOffice font is barely legible in comparison to this.
And since Firewire is more expensive to implement than USB, you can count on the vast majority of devices to continue implementing USB and ignoring Firewire.
And do you know why this is? Because USB is a "Host is Master" bus. Put all the smarts in the host, then the devices can be cheap. And that's exactly why this USB On-the-Go is a stupid idea. If you want something like that, get FireWire.

Very insightful. The more seminars I went to, the more critiques I've had of my resume, the more I find that everybody's opinion differs. Go with something you feel good about.
As for yours, I like it... however I find the background image to be distracting. It might be OK when printed, but on the web it looks like a bit of an eyesore. Just an opinion.
Does anyone find that the latest versions of Evolution don't work with their IMAP servers? Everything was fine until recently... 1.0.7 or 1.0.8. I haven't seen anyone else mention this so was just wondering if it's my server.
Once it is up and running it is fine. Windows will swap it out, and it takes a good half-minute to pull out of swap, but otherwise it is fine.
Amen to that! I've never seen an application that takes so long to pull out of swap. Browse a while, minimize, work on something else for half an hour, restore Mozilla...I have to wait for 10+ seconds. This is on fast machines. I can launch Mozilla faster than I can restore it.
I've seen a lot of links posted to the haxial.com site. You should also check out this thread on thespamletters.com. This guy is a riot! It's too funny to think of the guy replying enough that there are 13 messages in the thread.
I can transfer my entire mp3 colletion onto your computer without you having anything other than a firewire card. The so called "anti piracy mechanism" is called a hidden folder.

Good point about the copy-paste. I just double checked it with the web site, and it is right.
When it comes right down to it, I hate Messenger so I was more than happy to see it completely gone.

True, but it often pops back up, and at least for me, msconfig complains when you uncheck something instead of actually removing it.
Besides, this new "copy and paste" gizmo isn't just marketing-speak. It works!;)

1. Add Security to MS products. 2. ??? 3. Profit!
So it's 1280 km "across" and 1250 Km "wide". How does that work out? This is on two successive sentences. Nice!
Well, Qualcomm was his former employer.
That is SO true. I know supposedly educated electrical engineers who say that about Mac.
True, but I can move my mouse up and click the back/refresh/home/whatever a hell of a lot faster than 1 second.

Read more about it on a site that /. seem to respect, Ars Technica. Good article by John Siracusa:
Developers, Developers, Developers!
He is referring to Apple's themes. Remember Hi-Tech?

I'm not so sure about that. I read this thread on iPodLounge.com and have resisted the urge to plug my WinPod into the iMac at work.
Maybe it's not just the people in congress that need to get there priorities straight. That's "their priorities straight". ;)

Start/Run/RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
This worked for me. It finally stopped telling me to register my .NET Passport, and doesn't run Messenger all the time.
