    I think that the following words of wisdom applies here:

    "I never let school get in the way of my education." - Mark Twain

    It is the responsibility of the student themselves to actually learn the stuff and not just to pass the exams.
    Yes, passing the exams and learning the stuff that you actually need to know when you're out there working are different things.
    Passing the exams AND learning to do stuff is the optimal way to chose.
    I can give numerous examples of people with a University degree in CS that has studied C++ programming for over 2 years and comes with questions like:
    "I have an instance of an object, but I don't remember how to access the member functions of that object, could you show me please?"
    Those people asking the questions generally earns more money than the people answering them.
    I guess it's the same as a driving license, just because you have one doesn't necessarily mean that you can actually drive a car properly.

    The X-box is good at playing games, but the component video output doesn't even come close to the DVI output on my low-end DVD-player (150$).

    That DVD player (Yamakawa) can play DivX, Audio CD's and mp3's as well. Also, the X-box sounds alot when you have it up and running with it fans and all.
    Sure, the X-box has more features and works great, but only on low-end hardware, and you need to make sure the humming sound from the fans doesn't hurt your ears...

    There's a huge gab between the school and the job market right now. Especially in subjects like mathematic.
    I think the school has to inform it students on how the data they are about to process is going to help them getting the job they want.
    I myself would have liked mathematics better if I knew that it would help me code those 3D games (this was before 3D games became popular), or writing spicy computer algorithms.

    My wearable hot baby is out of town you insensitive clod! On another note, I carry around my Tungsten C, my iPod, my Z600 and sometimes even my Dell notebook. I would love to have the same functionality "built into my clothes". Btw, those Microvision Imagic Display Glasses (Picture 12) has been talked about since 8 years back (at least), nice to finally see a prototype. First time I heard about them, they were going to use laser. I wouldn't want to be a beta tester for that...
