  1. So someone in 2016 did bad stuff and was fined more money than he could ever pay back. Issue still exist in 2018 and is easy to fix. FORCE telcom's to not route calls from numbers that dont provide valid caller ID.

  2. Re:Yes, so limit what you share on Are We Living in a World Where You Can't Opt Out of Data Sharing? (fivethirtyeight.com) · · Score: 1

You can encrypt your emails to solve the email issue. Prior to cell phones there was a complete list of phone number, It had a magical name, It was called the phone book. YOU actually had to pay money NOT to be in the BOOK.

  3. SO, Take a 500sqft home that cost a million and now add $120K worth of solar panels to power it. If CA homes were not expensive enough...

  9. What does "online" mean? My computer is ONLINE 24x7, but that doesnt mean I am using it, My phone is online 24x7 but that doesnt mean I have it on my person. MY TV is only 24x7 but that doesnt mean I am watching it.

  10. I have a love hate relationship with iheart. I love the streaming service, but that what they did the broadcast radio. EVERY station playing the same thing. I can hear 8 country stations on my drive in 6 are iheart and have the same bobby bones programs running. I listen to radio for music not some morning DJ blabbing out his crappy love life. SHut up and play the music.

  11. fcc? on FCC Accuses Stealthy Startup of Launching Rogue Satellites · · Score: 4, Insightful

Aside from the fact that the satellite may have had radios on them, Not sure where the FCC has any authority over a satellite launched from India. Also not sure why the FCC has any say in how big or small a satellite can be?

  12. Its not a love for old phones its hate for the new phone prices. Unless your a narcissist who's self worth is driving by the image of having the latest phone why get one. Aside from the price there is little difference between a 5 year old phone and todays phone, There is NO killer apps that only works on a new phone. New version of the OS offer little features and security fixes for most of us.

  13. chip or swipe on Visa Claims Chip Cards Reduced Fraud By 70% (arstechnica.com) · · Score: 1

Moving to chips had nothing to do with fraud, It had to do with liability. If a store uses chip + pin and there is fraud the bank eats the loss, If they use chip with no pin or swipe then the vendor eats the cost on fraud. Some low cost per transition sites still swipe because they are willing to eat the cost in favor of speed. Other locations where product value is high or % of fraud is high have gone chip. With checks pretty much going to way of the Dodo birds and even for the few that accept them, they technically dont accept checks but do an ACH from your account. (ever get your check back at the register, guess what ACH).

At the onset of online content size did mater, now its quality. I take new netflix orginal content over re-runs of shows from the 70s anyday.

  16. How is the heck does this stop anything. I am sure the russians can afford to rent and apartment for a few months during the next election.

  17. smart's on We've Reached Peak Smartphone (washingtonpost.com) · · Score: 1

You have reached the saturation point with phones, Everyone who wants them has them. Aside from marketing hype there is little functional difference between phones. Maybe a little bigger screen, a little more memory,a little better camera, but basically the same from model to model. There has been no real new killer app in years that requires a "better" phone. The carrier move from subsidized phone cost to buy it outright hasn't helped any either. The once apple heard of buying anything new apple put out is gone, Apple itself has gone from Disciples of Jobs blindly following to grandma just wanting a phone to take pictures of the grand kids. Want to sell a phone give us good battery life, good screen size, good memory and most importantly a good price.
