Dont worry. California legislators will simultaneously propose a bill to ban CFLs, because they contain a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.
Anyone else find it ironic that the person giving the smartass "change your OS" answer, totally misses the sarcasm of the "Perhaps there's a reason why long posts full of links are considered lame..." response?
"My CORPORATE (very legitimate large silicon valley tech company) install of XP was determined to be 'counterfeit', and I wasn't alone"
I'll second that. We had a computer with some issues with Autocad (fully licensed also), so we decided to uninstall and reinstall Autocad. After that, WGA deemed the computer non-genuine. After screwing around for a few hours with cryptographic keys and other such BS, I said screw it, wiped the drive, and reinstalled windows from scratch. Thanks Microsoft!
"This is no different from an oil well drilled into some other country's oil. Iceland already claimed the Earth's core. The USA is basically stealing from Iceland."
For the last time, it isn't stealing. It's geothermal infringement.
"Net metering overcomes the day to day and durinal issues by keeping kWh credits alive for a year"
While I find this concept of solar panel rental pretty interesting, I'd like to hear more about how net metering works in cases where you have an end of year net negative energy usage (you generated more that you bought from the power company) AFAIK, most power companies do *not* pay for any net excess power you generated at the end of the year. BUT, you still have to pay the solar "rental" for the power the panels generated. In this case, at the end of the year you'd end up *paying* for the excess electricity you generated but didn't use.
Granted, this isn't the situation most people would likely be in, but I'm quite certain there are many living in areas of lots of sun (California), where their net annual usage would be less than their panels generated.
"So what's the big deal? I can carry a lot more than two C02 molecules around and make turns and my parents are still kicking themselves for creating me, why should these scientists be proud of their inferior creation?"
Apparently, this molecule moved out of the basement some time ago.
Can we please stop using that "Internets" George Bush mistake - it 's so dumb it makes my head hurt. Please just scratch fingernails on blackboards instead.
Very well! From now on, it is known as the Intertron! Or the Interblag, whichever you prefer.
"Enseñemos" is plural imperative "let us show", rather than the easier to make mistake "we show them" ("Enseñamos"), let alone "show us" ("Enséñanos").
Damn, change one letter and the whole meaning changes. And people say *English* is hard to learn. Thanks for the lesson. You'd think with 5 years of Spanish, I'd remember some of it, but nope.
Your friendly random bilingual grammar Nazi.
OT now, but do you think English/German bilingual grammar Nazi's refer to themselves as such?
"i'm obviously a tool of the emerging world order of secret police sent to slashdot to cast aspersions on you brilliant wise slashdotters"
See, he even admits it. Quick, mod him into oblivion.
(seriously, how you weren't immediately labeled a troll is beyond me. Maybe all the mods left work early or are already getting drunk)
"Canadians Do Know We Are Armed, Right?"
No, I don't think they do.
In fact, I hear then never even bring their guns to the mall
Flamebait? WTF?!
Apparently the mods missed the Verizon dollars/cents fiasco.
Slashdot stole my identity too, but then I remembered how to log in.
"What was that? I missed that last sentence, stupid &*%^^&*( Verizon!"
There you go, sticking your 0.02 cents in.
Thank you for explaining my joke.

Here's another: The Making of Chaos Tiles
Not as detailed as the VIKTORY II story, but still some good information.
"Go ask a lawyer."
But I thought we hate lawyers?

Or often times just ignored entirely.
Email has never been about "immediate, guaranteed delivery". Email can and will be delayed.
That's only because it's a series of tubes, that get plugged up with people downloading videos.
"Is there a "light side" of HDCP?"
Yes, I believe it is laughing at the people who paid $600 (or worse) for a PS3
and several $1000 for an HDTV, so they could have a blinking screen.

I prefer "intertube" myself.

Yes indeed. If only this woman had the sense to try to reason with the laws of physics, she'd still be alive today.

Can't get laid, eh?

Since *when* isn't Rob Zombie dinner music?

I have to go ask my kids what the hell that means.
