A couple of comments though - I admin a few Exchange Servers. For the most part, they take literally zero effort to maintain. They're very well behaved. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong?
I'll second that. I admin an Exchange server where I work. Since software development is my primary job, thankfully the admin tasks required for the Exchange box are slim to none. On the other hand, it's definitely unnecessarily complex and bloated for 'home use'. Someone wanting to run a DIY mail server on a Windows box could do a lot worse than to take a look at the very clean, compact, GPL'd Hmailserver - www.hmailserver.com
I also can't imagine anyone wanting to run an exchange server at home, considering the recommended hardware required and the licensing costs.
Sure most slashdotters knew of Google Answers. But even then, I myself only new about it because I saw it mentioned somewhere and decided to check it out. If you went to google.com, it wasn't even listed there. There's a good chance that 90% of the world wasn't even aware of it.
And honestly, even if *everyone* knew about it, there's only a small fraction that are either too busy or too lazy to look it up themselves.
Sony has so far refused to allow Blu-Ray licensing to any device that plays nice with both formats. They still have too much at stake to let anyone give the consumer a choice that may not be theirs
Maybe so, but by the time they pull their heads out of their asses (or consumers do it for them), at least the Broadcom solution is already there. Manufacturers that adopt the chipset will be way ahead of the game in releasing dual format capable machines.
Democrats will take the 435-member House of Representatives back by a likely margin of 5-15 seats.... Republicans are looking to pick up the Washington state seat, which they won't, and the Maryland seat, which they also will not (most analysts agree on this)
* Mr. Lucas laments that today's big-budget franchise films are too expensive and too risky. * He believes American audiences are deserting their movie going habits permanently. * Lucas states that for the price of one $200 million feature movie, 'I can make 50-60 two hour movies' that are 'pay-per-view and downloadable.' * Notably, he does not plan on distributing movies online, calling online distribution a 'rathole.'
And in summary... "Screw you guys, I'm going home"
"I had to scroll down, keeping a mental track of where the indentation was for the parent comment, looking for the next thing that someone said. Terribly bothersome, I tell you."
Here here!!! I often find myself putting my finger on the screen to mark the indentation point.
Does not work well with Opera 8.52. Maybe the javascript support in 9.x doesnt suck as bad but I haven't gotten around to installing it.
I've noticed occasional javascript problems with Opera when reading Yahoo mail too. A shame really because I like Opera much better than Firefox. Though to be fair I haven't used FF in over a year so I really should get the latest version and give it another try.
What, can't afford the $4.95 for a high tech Cellphone Signal Booster And don't be suckered in by the scammers selling 1st 2nd or 3rd generation boosters. Insist on 4th generation technology!
"I am a profesional astronomer and in my experiance most of my collegues could not really care less about this."
If that's the case then why does this continue to make news. Being rhetorical of course, but I can assure you that the general public cares even less. I'm a science geek myself and even I could care less whether it's a planet, dwarf planet or just a hunk of rock.
The only person who really cares is "mother" who is wondering if she still needs to bring 9 pizzas or something else.

For the more adventuresome:

EETimes has a couple of good articles about the PS3 and it's real cost ($840 for the 60GB model...ouch!)

Yep, they've already trademarked the name Microsux
"the number of WMDs has tripled in the past six months?"
Really? Wonder if they'll be smuggling them inside elephants.
"Helping people download music"
And they all moved away from me on the bench there...
"If the article is correct and the blogs themselves are breaking the terms, then shouldn't google close them down?"
Oh, come on!
Slashdot is no place for being reasonable when were talking about Google, Evil and Censorship.

Have no fear, Diebold is here!

See??! Jack Thompson was right.... look what video games are doing to you.
"Jesus."
Nope, don't think even Jesus can save him.
"I wouldn't sell Saturn if I were you, I think it's going to become valuable real estate in the coming years. :)"
That's what they said about Pluto.

Capiish?
Wii, Monsieur
"But won't all the people searching this database clog the tubes?"
Precisely, which is why he's opposed to the idea.
This post from last week's Google/ATM article had a direct link to the Triton manual.
Seriously, if some Wired blogger is striking the fear in ATM manufacturers, they've grossly underestimated the magnitude of the problem.

I for one can vouch for this as a hoax
Did you actually have to purchase one to be sure?
This is a total scam
Thank you Captain Obvious

The author should have made a new buzzword for it, like "Fishing 2.0".
:-)
Perhaps he tried but O'Reilly's lawyers gave him the C&D smackdown

Perhaps he needs a 16GB flash drive for a fubared Vista install.
"I was later fired as well"
Let me guess... they gave you a list of accounts to disable, and your name was on it?
