"Tom Brown's School Days" is the title of the book i think he is referring to. Hey, just trying to be helpful :)

Yeah, but didn't Toulouse Lautrec paint posters and Wedgewood made cups and saucers? I reckon that ANY expression of creativity, in any way, could and should be considered art.... I personally dont think that mass-production vs."single unique entity" is a good way to define artistic quality. I mean, album covers are considered artwork and they are created by marketing departments and pumped out by the millions. Besides, in today's pop culture dont you reckon that the line is blurred into complete obscurity? I mean, commercial products themselves have become art! Just look at how EVERYTHING is collectible these days, and how the collectors view these mass-manufactured pieces as objects of artistic value. Is the coke bottle not artistic? or the style of a new model car?

So... movies, theatre and dance are not considered art? I think you will find all artistic work is entertaining in one way or another...
Maybe its just you that doesn't find it entertaining!

My girlfriend used to hate even stickin her head in the door of our home office, but after seeing another friend of hers playing "inklink" on shockwave, she decided to give it a go, too. That was 2 years ago. Now she is one MEAN mother when it comes to C&C red alert 2 ! When i asked her how she came to enjoy these games, she replied: "at first, i just liked the comraderie of the online games, but it was the old drive-for-a-challenge that made me want to try more and more complicated games". I agree with some of these post in the fact that its probably better to put a couple of different games and other creative stuff on the box and just let her toy with them. Also, before this my idea of online gaming was q3a:Urban Terror, but there are HEAPS of really cool online java games, and im sure she would find something that piques her interest! I reckon its more beneficial (and lazier for a partner) to just let her test the water herself, with you there for support. And hey, in 3 months when she's playing the sims non-stop, remark how "hey, this looks a lot like diablo 2, just not as exciting!"..

p.s: iv'e found games based on my girlfriends favourite books, movies and TV shows are also no-brainers for her attracting attention.

well, how many times have you downloaded mp3's, and then when you go to play them they are inventively named "untitled" by the worlds most prolific artist, "unknown artist".... id3 tags aren't always accurate. Hmmmm... that leads me to wonder... Is it possible to edit id3 tags down the track? or only when originally ripped?

I know you're are all excited, but think of it from the dubya's point of view... he was only trying to push the christian thing to rub it in their face, so as to get the fundamentalists all pissed off and try something else, so he has an excuse to lay 2 buckets of nukey-shit on the 'enemy',which i can imagine he's jerkin off thinkin about :) i mean, cmon.. have'nt the last two presidents had war-on-a-plate almost straight away? im not saying the american GOVT is responsible, and im an not any less shattered by the attack, but you gotta ask yourself, is it psychology for beginners?

Of course Bush wants to unite all the muslims against the US... then he can nuke the fuck out of the lot of 'em, not just the one guy who is supposed to be running the show. What the fuck do you think all that "god be with us, god this, god that" was about? not to make his sunday school teacher proud, but to aggravate the islamic fundamentalists into making another move, one i'm sure he hopes gives him the excuse to vaporise the lot of 'em.

the only reason you (or any other "first world" nation) doesn't (apparently) "meddle" in the affairs of other nations is because you know you have the u.s. to do it for you. ahh... no, what usually happens is america TELLS its little friends to meddle on its behalf. Otherwise the UN would be ALL american citizens. I know, i am in Air Force Defence here in oz. I have been on 9 international missions in my career, EVERY SINGLE ONE being directed by the states, who wont use their own staff because they are not as well trained. (as they have explained to the oz military on numerous occasions.) Hey, dont get me wrong, you may have the planes but china would eat you alive if it came down to soldier vs. soldier. You also said the states doesnt invole itself willy nilly in other peoples affairs..um what planet are you living on? who else acts as global policeman? oh, and when you say: 'ahem,allies..' just remember who fought for your ass in YOUR vietnam, who supplied soldiers to YOUR gulf war, and has been doin dirty work for the states as long as we have had the ANZUS treaty. um... what have you done for us, lately? you havent heard as calling you to help bail us out of a war yet have you? Thought not. We dont pick fights that we cant finish without help.

Isn't everybody just assuming it was heading for Camp David? I cant see what the point is for crashing a plane into a holiday house. I reckon the maryland air national guard may very well have been the true target. This is of course,(Like everybody else) just speculation. http://www.mdang.ang.af.mil/
