Crystallized? That's a new one I haven't heard. Trucks typically go down long decents using a lower gear so that the engine does a good portion of the work. At the same time they pump the breaks. Why? Because when the breaks get hot enough the brake fluid begins to boil and you lose breaking power. Pumping gives them a bit to cool down and the transmission does a pretty good job of regulating overall speed.
This is good advice to follow no matter what you drive if you are doing a long decent for more than a few minutes. It might sound like your trans is going to blow up, but its not.

Oh please, and I have a Parson Russell Terrier not a Jack Russell Terrier. And besides, Cavalier King Charles Spanial makes it sound even more gay.
It's a friggin Cocker Spaniel. Not exactly the apex of dog intelligence, barely above the greyhound and afghan. And what the heck is with a guy owning one in the first place. Get a real dog. 8-)
Really, what's the last major civil engineering feet that has been done that hasn't been government sponsered? Or how many particle accelerators are solely privately funded.
The costs are just way too great for the private sector to tackle it. The payoff is too far down the line. The costs are too great and the risks way too high.
This is no different than taking on the Suez/Panama Canal, St Lawrence Seaway, Chunnel, Hoover Dam, Big Dig or any other huge undertaking. It needs to be driven by someone who has huge backing but doesn't have to turn a profit from the work before the next board meeting.
I know, this is slashdot, and the government is evil. I'm certainly not pro government myself, however, for the unforseeable future it'll be the only way such things that takes many years and costs billion is ever going to get done.
It may not be quick, or the cheapest, but it's usually the only feasible option.

Or stop being such a sissy. Night terrors, give me a break. I think they should change the bulbs and spend the money saved on a shrink 8-).
But this is kind of like going to a concert where everyone is waving glow sticks around. Without the anticipation of some long haired dudes hair catching on fire it's just not the same.
Shooting them up with compressed air just sort of takes away from the whole 'rockets red glare' that makes them fun.
Eh? So let me get this straight. We're supposed to respect him more because he's going to make more money off of a probably mediocre movie because he's spending less to make it?
He probably knows he'll take in around X amount of money whether he spends $250k or $50 million. But somehow we're supposed to like him more because he's going to low ball the production and increase his profits. At least high production movies typically put more people to work creating them. If he really cared he'd take all the production money he's saving and offer half price rebates to see his movie in the cinemas.
This is totally not true. Currently N.K. has 3 medals. North Korea is not some phantom nation, virtually everyone recognizes them as a nation. Other than S. Africa and apartheid a while ago I can't think of another nation not allowed to participate.
The last few days have been pretty ironic. On Friday you have the two Koreas marching through the opening ceremonies hand in hand. Less than a week later you have S Korea throwing hissy fits over the US talking about pulling out the majority of troops from the DMZ.
Let's see, over 80,000,000 gun owners who do it legally and safely. ~2000 gun related deaths a year, many of which are caused by illegal gun owners. Think that's the same ration as total moders to those who do it for illegal purposes?
Let's replace a relatively simple lunar rover that just might break with a super complex movable base! Nothing disaterous could ever happen to something like that.
Here's an idea, lets take the big mobile base design and scale it down. Then it could leave the base with say, one or two people in it and cruise around. Surely these little bases would be less prone to failure than the big base. We could call them Rovers!
The MMU isn't used anymore do to safety concearns of the high pressure tanks having problems during shuttle lift offs. It actually hasn't been used for quite some time.
And tethers are much simpler to use, simpler to maintain, and more reliable. They just aren't quite as cool.
Those who were truely not involved in stealing DirecTV's signal should have allowed the lawsuit to go forward, let DirecTV put on their case, and then move for dismissal immediately after that case before even needing to put on a defense.
Perhaps this is what happened, and nobody that was sued was not actually guilty. The truth of the matter is that probably 95% of those who bought the readers/writers/whatevers probably were doing so to circumvent DirecTV. The hardware bought for the most part weren't just generic smart card readers/writers, they were specially designed to be able to deal with DirecTV access cards. I'm not saying that what DirectTV did was right, but lets not paint a rosy picture of a bunch of victims.
Who exactly was pressuring them to make money? Is there a group of men in black suits who go around to all the businesses and demand profits from them? Do these high-profile execs and shareholders just suddenly appear out of nowhere and take over all businesses that aren't NFP?
Sounds like an excuse to avoid taxes to me. Taxes that also go into things like medicade, building schools, roads, etc. But hey, yet another Linux distro, the United Way or various other charitable organizations, they seem pretty interchangable.
Although they don't have the status yet, anyone who donates to gentoo and takes it off their taxes should be ashamed of themselves. There's lots of kids with cancer out there who could use it more.
It used to be that you could go to the butcher and get some 'leftovers' for free. People would use them for making soups, etc. Recently, it became popular for dog owners to pick these up because they are a nice treat for your dog, not to mention great for keeping them occupied for 3 hours when you have guests over. It's pretty funny how when they were used almost solely for soup they were free, but when the dog owners started asking for them they soon began to cost money. At least around here this is the case.
Bingo, it's great while there are only a half dozen people who try it per town. As soon as more than one person goes and asks an owner for their used oil guess what? No more free used oil. Crude oil prices are what they are because it's a traded commodity, not because it's hard to get or difficult to refine. What people are willing to pay is what dictates the price, not the threat of running out.
Create a demand and like everything else, prices will rise.
Not that I'm totally against the idea, but you can't base the impact on a real economy on a test case of a few people here and there.

Let's see this thing tow a boat, fit 6 people and 2 dogs, some 2x4s from the Depot, or hell, even a weeks worth of groceries in it.
Not that I'm defending 15mph vehicles, but lets compare apples. At least compare it to a Viper or something. Of course, the difference there is that a Viper will even get the geeks here laid, this thing won't.
Don't be stupid. It comes out of the 70c. Or do you think that all artists command the same royalty?
The CC thing seems a bit odd. Are they implying that if you buy 2 songs at once they get 20c per song? I suspect not, in which case Apple's cut now becomes 10 for 1 song, and 30 for multiple. Quite a difference.
Watch more TV until you are getting your money's worth.
