Better idea would be to build a floating city. When all the cars in china and all the co2 those coal fired chinese power plants pump out causes global warming and melts the greenland icecap, the the oceans will rise 20 feet but it will be no problem.
I think Bill's idea of using Vistbucks as a new world currency just might have some merit.
Vistabucks currency will be backed by copies of Microsoft Software. At any time you can go to the bank and cash in your Vista Bucks for software. Poor people in the 3rd world will be given free copies of Vista Operating system. They can either choose to use the software or else turn it in for Vistabucks.
In this way the federal reserve's role in regulating the money supply is replaced by Microsoft's distribution of new operating systems.
A service business model demands much lower cost per purchase but lots of repeat business. In order for customers to become repeat customers they have to be satisfied with the transaction. If not satisfied, no repeat business.
So how can Microsoft dream of being "big time" in the service business when they historically do such a poor job of of keeping their customers happy?
Religious people are mentally ill, plain and simple. Religion is a virus, a meme passed from parents to their children. The world today is a mess largely because of religion. Much of religion is actually a form of hate speech, and should be banned. For example, "No one goes to the father except through me...". That is saying all Muslims and other non-christians are consigned to hell.
There is nothing good that can come of this illogical mess. Who knows how many individuals are in therapy because of the twisted illogic of religion.

Sony has been fading recently, seeming to lose touch with the young consuer, but I have always thought that they would be a good fit with Apple. They are consumer based companies, not corporate based companies.
Sun would have been a better fit had Apple been interested in going corporate - like a hip IBM. Sun could run the server side of the business and Apple the desktop. But that was not what Jobs was interested in.
Sony has always been the odd man out in Japan as they have always been real innovators, not followers and perfecters of other company's visions.
Sony has a great entertainment business too, which fits well with the Apple and the Personal video market.
At this point though with Apple riding so high they would likely say "who needs Sony?" They might be right.
Why should I pay the networks to watch their crummy shows? I think they should pay the viewers.
Remember the Woody Allen joke "Someone ransacked my apartment - they broke in and left a television set".
A show I would watch is a show in which government officials appeared on camera and actually told the truth, answering questions from the audience. That would be worth paying for.
I am sure I saw this movie before and I think Bruce Willis saves us. So I wouldn't worry.
But just in case, is it possible that Bush and the Neo-cons are on the right track promoting global warming? They would deny this of course but who would be naive enough to assume there was any need to align press releases with actual objectives? Perhaps they are just trying to avoid a national panic?
I am amazed at how this magazine has declined in quality over the years.
For example, their silence has been deafening on the recent move in the scientific community to rename the planet Uranus to something less embarassing. What gives?
Do you really think the pension fund managers and mutual fund managers do their stock research using google?
I can see the consumer trend information though.
Every time I read about Sun I hear how they are doing poorly but have so much cash that they are in no danger of going out of business.
Instead of waiting for the cash to dry up why don't just admit they are done for and give all their billions to some worthwhile cause. At least Bill Gates is paying for millions of third world kids to have free vacinations.
I was watching the news and saw that some terrorist organizations are known to use cars and even pickup trucks in their operations. Since american manufacturers produce cars and might unknowingly be aiding terrorists we shoud consider much tighter control and use of these forms of technology. I also feel that since terrorists might send letters to each other or even write notes in pencil that Interpol and other international security agencies should work to limit public access to the post office and #2 pencils. Those who do not remember history will be forced to repeat it!
My career was going no where until Gentoo, now I get a job offer a day, at least. My programmer friends look at me with new respect. They know I have taken the right step, and that they soon will too. As for Python, I am convinced it is less powerful than XLANG, which I do everything in now, since it supports dynamic macros and XML. Thank you slashdot!
I developed servlets for about a year, then around the time that PHP moved to version 4 I moved into that and have yet to look back. Haven't used java for anything on the web since, except some xml-rpc server stuff (until I found out how to do that in PHP too).
Strongly typed java is just a pain for the web (IMHO) because everything on the web comes in and goes out as a string. Scripting in general just seems to make more sense for the web.
The fact that Java is not free software rankles a bit too. I wish Sun would just have the guts to declare Java free software (and likewise to StarOffice) and then concentrate on selling hardware, which is their strength.
If you recall Superman comics the Bizarro Superman was the anti-character to Superman. Bizzaro Superman was from Bizzaro World.
So if you ask me I would say the the correct term should be "Bizzaro Patterns".
Anyhow, Java is overated. Anything that refers to "Enterprise" this or that is an obvious marketing hack, similar to all those Microsoft ads that have about 50 exclamation points in them ("Enhance Your Carreer! Web Services are for what's happening now!).
It will someday be revealed that Java was just a wildly successful plot to sell Books.
Under capitalism, we have exploitation of man by man, but under communism, it is just the opposite.
| Sure our civilization might not like it but life will go on.
And what civilization would that be?

In Bill we trust.
"China, India and developing countries have quite regulated education, but they also have the drive to succeed. (It's called poverty)"
Oh, so maybe what we need then is more poverty. Sounds like the plan the Bush Administration is following.

listen pal, there is nothing wrong with living in my parents basement. Nice and cool in the summer. And yes I use Postgres.
One more example of science in the hands of morons.
Why not leave this stuff to the "professionals".

Is that why I got a phone bill last month for $77,545.89?
