if they stray to far away from their destination in their car, parents send a text message and child plows into oncoming car while reading thier parents message
I agree. She doesn't express any new ideas on the subject.. but it is nice to see someone who's "been there, done that" to step up against te RIAA. She makes some good points, too.
"That's how artists become successful: exposure. Without exposure, no one comes to shows, and no one buys CDs. After 37 years as a recording artist, when people write to tell me that they came to my concert because they downloaded a song and got curious, I am thrilled."
That's how I am. Sure, I might not buy CDs that I download, but I sure as hell do support the artist by buying merch, going to shows and telling my friends about how good a certain band is.
The people that did this are only hurting themselves in the long run, because I would bet a majority of thier lives are spent on the internet. If their main goal is to bring down the internet, what are these 13 year old boys going to do when they succeed?

I use verbatim 32x on my 40x burner and it works prefectly. The burning program will generally just give a message that it's dropping the speed to 32x due to the media. I actually haven't tried a full 40x burn yet.
the good thing about his method is that even if a spammer gets a ahold of his analysis, the more span recieved with those words, it will slowly bump the likelyhood of it actually being a real email.. thus dumping those messages into the spam box.
I've found that picking up new skills in electronics (more specifically computers) has been very easy for me. Having several good cooks in my family has inspired me to want to be as robust in cooking as I am with computers, but unfortunetly I just can't seem to pick cooking methods up as easy as say, a new programming language. Do you see any relation to picking up new computer skills with picking up even basic cooking skills? Where should someone with quick learning skills but no cooking background start? Thanks!
I think hotspots for wifi networks definetly will survive, especially in places like airports. Imagine being on a business trip and needing to upload something before you get to the office/hotel.

I hope he knows not to ask that question on dal/undernet.
It's probably not a bad idea that he didn't go through with this.. we could see the whole Dmitry Sklyarov situation over again.. only possibly worse. Something tells me that this would be a little more serious than hacking eBooks.
this is very encouraging news, considering that for the past two months I've been working on a site dedicated to the local music scene in my area. (Columbia, MO)
Basically I'm creating the most extensive site regarding music in the area - (not a challenge, unfortunatly)
The heart of the site is the local album and show reviews which can be submitted by registered members. I am trying to create a sense of community, because, quite frankly, our scene sucks. (especially for being a major university town)
You've already got one for Front of House (what YOU hear), there's one for monitors and now there will need to be one for recordings.
a lot of the smaller "indie rock" clubs don't have a seperate mix for the monitors - its all done from one soundguy from one board.
get a life. thanks.

those bright red blotches must be the smoke shops and red light district. high traffic!
A cheat-free online game experience is something most people I know would give their first-born for.
you must know some sick, sick people.

who knew about the spam?
not the writers of this stuff.
this idea really sucks
"If you notice these symbols at your place of business, it is likely your network has been identified publicly," warns the guidance from the FBI.
The FBI are obviously masters of the obvious here...
better not lose the crypto-watch or you won't be able to take your laptop anywhere until you find it!

contrary to popular slashdot belief, women have asses too!
I guess I should have just said they were boobs, then I wouldn't have raging homophobes yelling at me!

Did anyone else notice that the hand drawn chalk logo spotting wifi access looks very similar to an ass?
The problem is that most "reality TV" is:
1) Despicable. (Mean-spirited, materialistic, what have you.)
2) Stupid.
3) Boring.
4) Fake.
wow... that sounds like 90% of the worlds population. pretty close to reality if you ask me.

I think you have other issues. I have no problem saying ogg vorbis simply because people look at me strange when I say it.
Ogg what?
Ogg Vorbis
It'd be different if it was called Barbie's Dream Audio Compression.
a company wide email has just been sent to everyone in my company reminding them that Friday is SysAdmin day! (I'm sure they all remembered anyway)
I look forward to pulling into the parking lot Friday morning to see my new car waiting for me.
